Coining out a good surname!
_________________________________________One of the most memorable moments in this new life of mine was when Kanae suddenly adopted a child.
Well, not adopted in as a daughter per say, but as a sister thankfully.
And 'thankfully' because she was hardly even sixteen when she pulled that stunt outta her ass."She looks quite a bit like you, I must say." I randomly threw out one time, making Kanae stutter and then scold me as I snorted at her flustered expression.
"Hey, don't shoot the messenger!" I defended myself, before turning towards Aoi and Shinobu, "Hey, Shino-chan, Aoi-chan, tell her I ain't lying!"
"Now that you said that..." Shinobu stared tentatively at the confused ten year old before replying, "Nope, she doesn't."
"Both you sisters need a new pair of eyes." I deadpanned before moving out of Shinobu's incoming smack, "Hey! I'm only telling the truth~!"
"Don't run around in the room, Hashira-sama!" Aoi scolded me loudly, making me mock-sniffle as she turned away — not even acknowledging my great acting skill!
"Aoi-chan is so mean~"
"That's because you are act like a child, despite not being one!" Aoi shot back, making me crawl into my corner of woe.
"This world is so cruel."
"Kanao-san!" I heard Aoi call out, "Is this, is this not okay?" She asked Kanao, pointing at the piece of paper depicting her own surname, "Is this really not okay?"
'Ah, she really did want a sister badly...' I smiled sadly at this scene as Kanao looked blankly at the papers before picking up the one in the middle.
"Do you really want that one?" Aoi asked again, her eyes shinning with plea but unfortunately Kanao was too young (and naive, I guess?) to understand.
"So, what's it gonna be?" I asked, despite knowing the answer to it.
"Oh," Kanae blinked in surprise as she noticed the paper she picked up, "Um, Fujioka..."
"Wait, what?!" I choked on my spit, coughing as I asked, "You had my surname in it too?!"
"Why wouldn't we?" Shinobu asked, blinking at me innocently as I made a face at her fake innocence.
"Because I ain't part of this Estate, maybe? Now re-roll the whole bloody thing! I ain't giving my surname to anyone!"
"But Kanao-chan already chose that!" Kanae gave me her best puppy-eyes — forgetting that I already had grown a resistance against it.
"Those eyes ain't gonna work on me, woman!" I stepped forward, "I grew up long enough with ya two brats to get used to those deadly weapons of yours." I kneeled down beside the ten year old, making her look at me blankly, "Give me that sheet and choose another one, please?"
She looked at the sheet once more, before handing it to me obediently.
"Now, I shall burn—" I deadpanned as I read the name on it, "You both sisters are becoming more and more insufferable with each passing day." I replied as I displayed the paper to everyone in the room; it had 'Tsuyuri' clearly written over it, just as it should have.
"You're not the only one who can prank, you know~?" Shinobu teased me with her sickeningly sweet voice, making me glower at her.
"I hate every single one of you."
