Half and Half

Part 5 - General Bu

The week passed quickly, and Minhyun was out of the hospital by Friday. He felt better than ever, getting to roam around freely- his wounds weren't completely healed but it was enough to leave the hospital. Minhyun set up his basement to look like a get-together, just in case someone unwanted came. Soon enough, it was 6pm on saturday and all seven of them were in MInhyun's basement. "The real reason I called all of you here today is because I need to tell you something that happened while I was captured, that I happened to leave out before," said Minhyun.

"Yeah, we got the code. What is it?" replied Mustang.

"I met Brigadier General Bu's sister in Drachma. He's a spy from there." The room was pindrop silent, everyone was in awe. "But how can you be sure?" asked Breda.

"His sister seemed pretty confident, and remember the comment Brigadier General Bu made? 'Be aware of what you say.' He knows I know. Oh yeah, he's supposed to be going back to Drachma soon, he's going to replace the general I killed," Minhyun replied.

"It all makes sense now. I didn't understand what the Brigadier meant when he said that. He's also been more careless lately. I found a Drachman flag in his office, I just assumed it was an accident," said the Colonel. After a few seconds of silence, he said "I have a plan." The Colonel revealed his plan and everyone agreed to follow it. Minhyun was to lead the Brigadier into the command center, where they would expose him using a microphone. "Zain, the Brigadier will likely try to attack you, so I'm going to have Havoc and Falman act as your bodyguards," said the Colonel. Minhyun reluctantly agreed.

"If we get in trouble, you'll have to answer for us, Colonel," said Hawkeye.

"Sure, but we won't get in trouble," he replied. Hawkeye nodded. Everyone was silent for a minute, thinking about what was to come. Suddenly, they heard the door above them open and someone walking down the stairs. Brigadier General Bu materialized in front of them, followed by Minhyun's father. "He just barged in-" said his father. Everyone got up and saluted the Brigadier.

"I heard there was a party for half-and-halfs return, and thought I'd bring a present," said the Brigadier, smiling.

Thank you, sir," said Minhyun, feeling tense. The Brigadier handed him a box of chocolates and exchanged a few pleasantries before getting to the point. "You know, if you discussed anything about your time in Drachma, Zain, I'd like to know."

"I don't think anyone has mentioned Drachma, sir," Minhyun replied.

"Are you sure? Because if there was anything said, and I find out about it later, there will be a price to pay."

"The Brigadier knows, he knows I told Hughes and his unit about him," thought Minhyun. "Yes sir."

"Well then, I'll be on my way. Enjoy your party." Everyone saluted and he left. There was a collective sigh once he was safely out of the house.

"That was scary, let's just get to exposing him," said Minhyun shakily. Everyone went home except Havoc and Falman, who were now staying at Minhyun's house. Minhyun woke up in the middle of the night to a sound outside his window. He sat up and reached for his pistol. "Dang it, no bullets," thought Minhyun. He saw a man's silhouette opening the window. He saw Brigadier General Bu, holding a pistol. Minhyun threw a pillow at him and ran to where Havoc was sleeping, "Havoc! Falman! Get up right now, we need to go, the Brigadier is in my room. He has a pistol." They both were up within seconds and went downstairs with Minhyun, heading out the door. They ran into the forest, and were closely followed by the Brigadier. They weaved between trees as the Brigadier shot at them. "We can't shoot him, we have no proof that he's a spy!" Minhyun said.

"If he gets too close, shoot," replied Falman, handing Minhyun a loaded pistol. He nodded and kept running towards the command center. The three of them stopped running when they heard the shots stop. "Did he give up? Maybe he realized we were going to the Command Center and he wouldn't be able to get us there," said Minhyun.
