Jack traced the swirling pattern on the ceiling with his eyes as he laid awake in the dark.

As soon as his eyes adjusted to the darkness a couple of hours ago, it was almost as if he couldn't find himself closing them for less than a second.

He rolls off the air mattress that he shared with Johnson and Nate, not being able to handle their loud snores much longer.

Tippy toeing to the door, he walks into the hallway thinking everyone's asleep.

Going down the stairs and into the kitchen, Jack grabs a bottle of water from the fridge and leans against the counter, taking a couple gulps at a time.

"Jack?" Alyssa says with a raspy voice as she picked her head up from the couch.

"Rose? What are you doing down here?" Jack asked taking some more sips of his water.

"I guess I fell asleep down here, is everything okay?" She asked the brunette whos anxiety was going sky high as she got closer.

"U-uh, yeah I'm fine, I just couldn't sleep," He stuttered.

"Would you like some tea or anything to eat?"

Jack furrowed his gorgeous eyebrows not knowing why she was being so nice to him when a couple of hours earlier they got into a little disagreement.

"S-some tea would be nice, only if y-you're making some for yourself," The boy replied looking down at his now empty water bottle.

"Of course," Rose smiled walking into the kitchen.

They stood in comfortable silence as the kettle began to boil.

She reached up and grabbed two white mugs that had the letters 'A' on one and 'J' on the other written in cursive.

"Don't tell Jasmine I gave you her mug," Alyssa joked making a smile form on Jack's face. She poured the hot water on top of tea bags inside of the two mugs then adding the 2% milk changing the colour from black to a light brown.

"here, why don't we sit outside?" Alyssa asked Jack as he nodded his head with confusion. Jack was seriously confused as to why the girl who didn't want anything to do with him, suddenly wanted something to do with him.

Alyssa on the other hand realized that she couldn't hold a grudge over something that happened almost 10 years ago. Although that event did something to her, it changed her into something better. If Jack never did what he did, would she even be where she is today?

Both the ex-lovers step outside the back door into Alyssa's elegant backyard.

There was a large 'L' shaped pool with a hot tub, then a seating area with a fire pit in the center surrounded by small, circular, cushioned chairs, and one large couch with the perfect view of the sky, sunrise/sunset, and rising tv.

"Wow," Jack says in awe

"I know right? I finished it not too long ago but I'm still working on planting some flowers and growing some vegetables in that area over there," Alyssa said pointing over to empty spaces all over the lawn.

"Wait, you did this yourself?" Jack asked in shock.

He knew she was independent, but he didn't know she could fix her whole backyard up by herself.

"Well, I mean Jas and Shawn helped out, but only with the hard stuff, other than that, I put my blood sweat and tears into this," She said confidently, proud of her work.
