Living through the apocalypse with my baby

Chapter 12

A silence starts to take over the car but luckily I am safe from the awkwardness of it by a cry from Angel and I move to the front and I immediately grab her to check what is wrong. While doing this all I can think about is saved by the bell and that brings out a small chuckle from me. Trying to identify the problem I put a bottle to her lips and she immediately starts drinking from it. Feeling a gaze on me I try not to look up but I do anyways.  Looking up my eyes immediately lands on his eyes and I start to get lost in them until Angel starts fussing.

So I look down and I notice that she finished her bottle removing the bottle from her mouth I plop it in her open bag. Checking if she wants another one I try to reach for another bottle but it stumbles out of my hand. I think it will spill on the floor but before it does that Matt catches it and hands it to me. I look up to his face then down immediately and I mutter softly "thank you"  and I hear him mutter something but can't quite catch it. Moving the bottle to her mouth Angel starts to cry and I take that as her not wanting anymore so I put the bottle back in her bag.

And I left her up to try and burp her to see if that was the problem. As soon as I start burping her she stops fussing and I can't help but glance up at Matt and immediately we lock eyes. It's like the world goes silent and my eyes start to shift down to his lips and they begin to move "do you want to move up front you know since your burping Angel and stuff" giggling I think of something " it's already so late into the day I'm thinking of sleeping some more after putting her to sleep" "oh I forgot about that it's already 11pm" smiling up at him I say "how about you find a place to park the car so we can spend the night who knows if the light might bring something to us and I'll show you something cool(not really) this car can do"

I see his puzzled face reflecting into his iris off of my eyes and I can't help but think how beautiful he looks. He turns his head away from mines and I hear the engine of the car come to life. Turing away from him I look down at Angel and when I believe I am finish burping her I start to coo and hug her. After 15 mins I check her diaper to see if it needs changing and it does so begin to change her and like before I toss it out the window sorry nature if it was before the apocalypse happened I would have waited until a rest stop came up but look at the world now. After I finish changing her I drop hand sensitizer in my hands still have to be clean even though I used baby wipes.

20 minutes after I began to rock Angel I feel the car turn so look out the window and I guess this is the spot Matt choose to park the car. The area is secluded, shrouded in mist and the trees hides the spot he parks in and I guess this is a good spot safe from humans and zombies alike. What humans would go out at night in a apocalypse and even if they did the same reason the zombies can't get us will block them. The trees obscure the view and makes it look like there is nothing lying beyond them.

While I keep looking out the window I hear Matt saying "what is the cool thing you want to show me" smiling I gently lift up my arms that are carrying the half asleep Angel I put her in her car seat and I tell Matt to "watch her" . Looking down at the bags I start to go through all of them until ah ha found them. I take out three large blankets and shove them in Matt's arm. I begin to try and make the bags flat. The reason well I'll show/tell you looking at  the seats In front of me I begin to slightly push the seats 3 inches forward until till I hear a slight pop sound. Sliding down I turn to my seat my I start to feel the bottom until I feel a latch and release it and then slowly begin to lower in down and I do that to the middle seat and the last seat until it's all down.

Grabbing the blankets I lay the first blanket down covering almost everything and I hear Matt laugh "is this the cool thing you wanted to show me you do you know most cars can do this as well." Turning to him I say "shut it yes most cars can but are the front seat adjustable so you can have more room if I wanted to I can push the seats all the way to the air bag holder" he ruffles my hair and says " you know nothing about cars" "your right but your forgetting something this is a truck get it correct" laughing he grasps the pillows that were put under the two seats up front and he gives them to. Still laughing he says " I'll have first watch"  After putting the pillows down I say "I went through all this effort just to us on watch no. let's just sleep until early morning you picked a good spot no thing will find us and if your worried you just wake up at 4am"

Looking like he is fighting an internal battle he nods his head agreeing. 10 minutes latter me Angel and Matt are lying down on the make shift bed not the most comfortable but at least it warm. Angel is laying to right of me one of the blankets blocking the other side of her. Matt to the left of me I say good night to him and before I fall asleep he says " I love you too" and puts his arm around his waist I turn to look at him and see that his eyes are closed I turn back to look at Angel and I put my hand on her back and I close my eyes.
