If you told Madision she would have a baby and be abandoned by everyone by the people she thought loved her 6 months before the zombie apocalypse she would have laughed at you but look at where she is at now.
Turning over to my side I peek out the window and see darkness checking the time on my laptop I realize it's still early 3 am, laying back down I look over to Matt and Angel some how she got in the middle between us. Sighing I lift my body off the makeshift bed and take out my phone and see if I can get signal stupid but nonetheless I try calling my mother..... nothing. With nothing to do I look at the map. Calculating how long the drive to Montana from Challis Id would be I think about the rest of the drive to Yukon and what we will do when we get there. 7 hours 7 hours not counting the back rounds and different ways we may need to take. 7 hours not to long but also not to fast and we need to find Matt something to wear even if he says he will be fine, i know he won't.
Looking through the window I think about are supplies and what we need to stock up on. Water we have 58 bottles left a good amount but I would like more. Especially since I did change the travel plans from going straight into Canada to going to Montana then Canada , but if I'm correct about the information I found out there should be a huge refill station that not many people know about and we may be able to find different weapons along with food and other supplies. Planning on how we will get there I mark it in the map and make notes about it so Matt can read it. Feeling a shift I turn to look at the make shift bed to see Matt waking up. "Morning" I say smiling, he looks up to me and gives me a goofy grin that sets off butterflies in my stomach. Leaning over I ruffle his hair and say "you sure you don't want to get more sleep, I've slept so much yesterday and today that I'm fine staying up" he snakes his head no and sits up and says "what are you planning so early in the morning" and he leans over to me and looks at the map.
I begin explaining Matt the changes in plans , trying to locate the refill station I know and finding winter clothing for him. He begins to protest but I lift up his chin and look him in his gorgeous eyes and say "you need them so don't think about arguing" instead of saying anything he leans towards me and kisses me. That kiss ignites a fire in me and I lean into the kiss and sigh. What seems like forever we pull away from each other and a calm silence settles. Looking into his eyes I think I can see black specks in them, when he begins to speak I pull away from his eyes and settle on his face he says in a serious tone "I know we just meet and the world is ending but Madison I really like you and I adore Angel, even if our time may be limited I want us to be together, be a family" looking at him a see every moment his face makes and moving my eyes to his eyes I see and feel the sincerity.
So maybe against my better judgment, maybe because of what turning to chaos I nod my head and say yes. He brings my face to his and instead of the fire returning the kiss feels gentle, caring, and sincere. Pulling away from each other I check the time 4:30 I guess between we waking and making plans and talk between time flew. Matt begins to try and make us something to eat rummaging through the bags and begin to check if Angel needs to be changed and she does so I do so. Fussing I kiss her on her cheek and after I am done I begin rocking her to sleep. Matt turns to me and mouths the food is ready to eat. Looking at what he made I smile and seeing that Angel was asleep I whisper for him to bring her car seat and when he moves it close to me I put her in it.
And I begin to eat smiling at him we begin to talk about small things and the potential future, after we finish eating we both look at the 5:25 am. "So who wants to drive first" Matt says responding I say" I'll take the first 5 hours then you'll take the rest until we enter Montana after that we'll try and find the refill station and head out to Calgary" " you sure" Matt says nodding I begin moving to the front adjusting the seat. I turn back after hearing Matt snicker glaring at him he puts both his hands up and smiles, turning back I start the car and begin the move out from the trees. In the rear view I see Matt read the notes I made for the refill station.
Driving on the back roads may be slower but honestly they are safer I begin to think until I hear Matt start to ask questions about the refill station and we begin chatting. This goes on until we a loud noise take us out of the conversation.
