"Are you sure you just didn't forget you got one there?" says Kakashi. Both of them are in her house and Calista has her back to a mirror, her neck craned as she tries to get a look.
"I'm sure. It's ridiculous for you to even suggest that. I remember every tattoo, who done them, and what they mean. Here," she says handing him paper and pencil. "Draw it."
He does as he is asked looking back and forth from her neck to the paper. He passes it to her when he's done. She holds it in one hand and touches the tattoo with the other.
"You're missing it," says Kakashi. "Here." He takes her hand and directs her finger tips to where the mysterious tattoo is. She looks at him as his hand lingers over hers for a moment. Kakashi withdraws, clearing his throat.
"It feels like a normal tattoo. Just like skin," she says.
"Recognize the look of it?" says Kakashi.
"Maybe. It reminds me some time of type jitsu mark but there are so many of them. I have no idea what it could mean."
"You should probably get some opinions on experts in jitsu markings. If you wanted to come with me, we could ask--"
"No," she says quickly. "It's just that might open doors for me to have to explain my past which I can't do. Either way, I'll look suspicious and be asked to be move on from the village."
"But if you're in trouble..."
"I'm not. It's not a tattoo but you're right, it's possible that it's something that I have forgotten or maybe one of the guys were playing a prank on me. They done that a lot."
"And you're confident it's just a prank and nothing more?"
She thinks back to when she left her ex-kin. Her boss's words. Yuri's embrace.
"No. I left on good terms. I had their support."
He looks at her a moment. "Well, if something happens and you need help, come find me." He writes his address and lays it on the table next to what he drew."
"As long as you promise not to meddle," she says.
He hesitates a moment before he nods. An acknowledgement of what she said, not a promise. "I better finish my patrol. My relief is coming soon."
She smiles and walks him to the door. "See you around."
She looks down at the paper Kakashi drew. Feeling a little unsettled with no direction on who or what to turn to, she makes her way to bed wondering how alone she truly is.
As she is lying in bed she has another flashback to just days ago, prior to when she can the Hidden Leaf. Her boss's words. Yuri's embrace.
"They wouldn't do that to me. There's just no way."
