This update is a bit long, but it was fun to write! I hope it doesn't bore you all to sleep lol 😉
_________________________________I giggled again, tilting my head back to the ceiling. "You poor thing! That sounds awful!"
"It was! It's one of those memories that pop into my head at night just to torment me." Brian laughed along with me. "So now that you know my most embarrassing moment, it's my turn to ask." He paused to think. "What is your greatest fear?"
This was the second night I had talked to Brian over the phone. The first time had started off as awkward and terrifying as a first date, but ended in a comfortable conversation filled with laughter. Last night, we had both fallen asleep on the phone together and went through today exhausted but excited to talk again.
Tonight, we decided to play a question game to get to know each other better. We each had a turn asking a question and giving our answers. The only rules to the game were that we had to tell the truth, and we weren't allowed to skip.
I wracked my brain. "That's a tricky one... I'm afraid of so many things. It's hard to narrow it down to one."
"Name some top fears then." He suggested.
I readjusted myself so that I was laying on the bed with my head hanging upside-down off the edge. "I'm afraid of my parents, of god, of the devil, of dying, of the people I love dying..." I thought harder. "Of sex, of heartbreak." I heard him exhale a quiet laugh, and my face heated up.
He was silent for a moment before saying- "Those are all terrifying things."
My face grew hotter. "Don't lie, remember?"
"I'm not! All of those things scare me too."
"All of them?"
"All of them," He repeated, before quickly adding in- "Especially your parents."
We both laughed at that.
"Okay, okay its my turn." I sat up in bed. "Do you want to get married and have children?"
"Are you proposing to me?" He teased. "We sure move fast don't we?"
I choked out a laugh. "You know what I mean- in the future!"
His answer was confident. "Absolutely. I feel like I'll be a great father one day. I learned from the best."
That made me curious. "What are your parents like?"
"It isn't your turn to ask, Miss." he teased again. "But I'll excuse that this time. My parents are... well, I might be biased- but they're the best. Supportive, loving, intelligent...
My father is my biggest role model. He's always been involved with my hobbies, and he's fueled every passion I've had. Any moment I'd let on to a project I was interested in, he'd bring me to the library to start researching while he went off looking for any supplies we could use. He helped me build my own guitar, and he built a makeshift dark room to develop the photos I take." He paused for a moment. "They're best- and they'd adore you."
My heart fluttered. "You think so?"
"I know so."
I picked at a stray thread on my blanket, smiling so wide that it hurt. "I wish my parents were more supportive."
"What is it you want to do that they're against?"
"Is that your question?"
He chuckled. "I asked because I was wondering, but I suppose it can count as my next question."
