Chapter 7: Grocery Shopping

"Kazu! D-Did you decide on a song yet?" Deku asked as we walked out of school. I sighed and shook my head no.

"Still not sure," I replied looking at him eat a donut. Bakugo and his friends were laughing about something as we passed them. Deku looked at them then back at me.

"W-What did Kacchan and you talk about yesterday?" he asked.

"He asked to be my friend," I replied. "Strange, right?"

Deku nodded a bit in shocked.

"Kacchan really said that?"

"Yeah, he really did. You going straight home?" I asked. Deku nodded and smiled.

"I'll see you whenever! Bye Kazu!"

"Bye Deku,"

We parted ways. I decided to go downtown and get some groceries for my mom because she had to work a bit later than usual. I pulled up the list on my phone and looked down reading what we needed then someone gently bumped my arm.

"Hey,"

I looked up and saw that it was Bakugo.

"Where are you going?" he asked.

"I was going to go shop for some groceries," I responded.

"I'll come with you,"

"Well...Okay then,"

The silence hit the both of us as well as the air. We could only hear whatever noise was traveling around us and our footsteps as we both wished for the awkwardness to go away.

"Oh, right," Bakugo said taking his backpack off and moving it to the front of his chest. He was rummaging through it and pulled out a similar journal that looked like mine. I was trying to figure out what he was trying to do then he handed me the newly bought journal. "It's a small sorry gift for..r-ruining your notebook,"

"It's a journal," I corrected him.

"Whatever, just take the damn thing. I have no use for it,"

I grabbed it out of his hand as he put his backpack back on. I flipped and looked through the fresh clean pages and smiled a bit looking back at Bakugo.

"Thanks, I didn't know you had such a kind bone in your body,"

"I ALWAYS HAD A KIND BONE!" he shouted as I laughed at his statement. He noticed my warm expressions and looked down blushing. "Damnnit," he whispered to himself. "So cute,"

"Hmm? Did you say something?" I asked.

"No!" he claimed calming himself down and casually feeling his beating heart. "We're here," we took a step inside and I showed my phone screen to him so he could see the items I needed. He took a shopping cart and rolled it along with me. We found every item that I needed and I checked it off one by one. We also did get a bit distracted by some conversations we formed together.

"Last is some mochi ice cream," I said going to the frozen section and looked up to see the ones I wanted were at the very top. I tiptoed to try and grab the boxes, but I couldn't reach it. Bakugo was busy snickering at me struggle from behind. I turned around to watch him laugh and smile. "Help me!!!" he walked next to me and grabbed the different flavors I wanted.

"Grow a bit," he said to me. I playfully punched his arm and rolled my eyes.

"Oh shut up," I replied as our hands touched on the cart handle then we both pulled away.

"Erm...Sorry," we both said to each other. Bakugo pushed the cart ahead as I walked beside him. We went over to a self-checkout and scanned all the items thoroughly placing them in plastic bags then putting them back on the cart as we rolled near the exit, he grabbed all the bags and pushed the cart away.

"I can just carry them," I said.

"It's fine! I'm doing a NICE friendly thing! See! I can have a nice bone in my body!" he said to try and prove himself towards my previous statement. We headed towards my place, but I made him stop when we were close by a park.

"Let's just take a small break," I said walking over to steal a seat on a swing. He placed the bags down and saw on my left side taking that spot. "You must be thirsty," Bakugo cleared his throat.

"I don't know what you're talking about," he said. I handed him a water bottle.

"Just take it you stubborn boy,"

He growled underneath his breath but took the bottle and gulped it down.

"Thanks for coming with me to the store," I said looking at him as he wiped his mouth.

"Yeah yeah, no problem," he replied.

"I owe you,"

He touched the water bottle and smiled.

"Okay, make sure to remember that,"

"Huh?" I said out of confusion.

"Let's go before the ice cream melts," he said getting back up and grabbing the bags.
