It's been two weeks since Zach moved in, the project has been approved by the bank and we got our business license. It helps that we also bought property for the bed and breakfast that is on the next lot over, five acres of land where it is now being built.

Damon has unfortunately been a pest throughout it all and Stefan has been making appearances when we're out and about. Today was one of those mornings where you're just irritated. Or in my case, where I'm just irritated. Stefan walks into the house, under the guise of looking for my niece when he sits down at the counter in the kitchen.

"What is it?" I ask with a grumble as I hold back a irritated sigh at the oldish vampire.

How am I suppose to keep them out if they come in anyways despite the vervain in the air? Glancing at him I notice that he has on leather gloves, to not get affected by the vervain on the door handle is my guess.

He watches me closely for awhile before asking. "Do you need help with anything? Uncle Zach has only mentioned your plans a few times.."

That's because we don't plan it in front of them. "We're starting a business. I'm trying out recipes for breakfast."

"Would you like help?" He offers without hesitation, standing up and walking over to me as I look at my batch of burnt Bavarian cream filling. "I'm a pretty good cook and I am not too bad at baking either."

I finally release a sigh and rub my temples before glancing at him. "Aren't you here to see my niece?"

Shouldn't my vervain be enough to keep them away? It's on me, on my clothes, fuck. I put it in practically everything. .

Stefan shrugs, putting his gloved hands in his coat pocket. "Maybe. But, you're going to work with my Uncle. So that means I need to look out for you too."

"Yes. Work, it's not like we're getting married. I'm not going to be your Aunt or anything. Well, unless you and Elena decide to get hitched of course."

"But." He adds, almost hesitantly as he watches my face and eyes closely as his brows scrunch up slightly. "Don't you two share a room?"

I blink at him and then raise an eyebrow at him for the question. "Well, he is my friend. Why would I care if he sleeps on my bed?"

"You two .. uh." He starts to say when Damon walks into the kitchen and I hold back the urge to bang my head against something hard.

What did I do in my last life to deserve this?

"It seems my little brother wants to know how our uncle could manage to sleep in the same bed as you and not — well — you know. I couldn't help but overhear when I walked in."Damon says with a smirk as he wiggles his eyebrows at me.

God, please don't tell me that fortifying the house and myself with vervain has caused them to literally use it to build an immunity to said vervain. As I notice them continuing to not sizzle, both of them are also wearing gloves. It's in the air though... it should still burn them.

"I don't need to sleep with someone." I tell them slowly. "Besides, I don't go around asking about who you do in your spare time do I?"

"It's just," Stefan started and then stopped himself, just as I notice a bit of a sizzle coming from him. "I have to go." It has to be the bunny diet because Damon's immunity to it is.. well more advanced.

As he leaves I glance towards Damon and ask him innocently. "Are you both infected with something? You did the sizzling thing too awhile back."

His smile fades just slightly and his eyes narrow at me. "I think that you know."
