"Attention everyone!" The King's voice boomed from the front table. Glancing towards Izy and I he continued, "Now that everyone is here we can start!" All the cheer was back in his voice. Some music without lyrics started playing, and servants holding platters with domes over them started streaming into the ball room towards all the tables. Setting everything down the servants pulled the lids off the food for us all to see.

I saw so many types of food that I couldn't even identify half of them. Everything smelled so delicious I started to drool. "Now I know all of you want to start eating, but a I have a few words." He nods towards some indistinct corner. A few seconds later the lights dimmed. "Today I have met some extraordinary people," he pauses looking around, "Some a little less," Izy snickers at this remark. "And I am happy to say, this year I'll be inviting a few of you to stay at my palace for an extra day until you must leave for the sorting ceremony."

Why was he doing this? Did he know that I knew about the entrance? My stomach dropped quicker than a dead bird out of a tree.  Did he know that I know that he knows that I know? No! He couldn't have! Everyone's voices were silent now, and we all held a collective breath waiting for more information. The King finally waved a dismissive hand everyone started to eat.

"Isn't that crazy? I didn't know he did that!?!" I looked at a kid across the table.

"Do you even think you get to see him Anthony? Heck you probably have the lowest score out of all our grade!" It was Andrew, someone else in my grade.

"That's not true! There's that John kid who doesn't care about points! He's probably gonna stay in the twos." Anthony looked up and saw me. "Nuh... um... I mean, um... no off... offense man."

"Some taken," I say. There were buzzes from their bands as I turn to Izy. "Who do you think he'll talk to?"

"I honestly have no clue, probably the people with the highest points, or maybe just a group with potential?" She looked back at The King quizzically and took a bite of something that was crunchy on the outside and had white meat on the inside with a bone protruding out of the end.

"Well whichever way he's deciding who to see I know I won't be one of them."
