Patrol

Sorry for not updating in a while, been busy with school . Anyway hope you enjoy :)

A warm breeze blew through the window to Ellie's little home, speaking of Ellie; she hasn't moved from her bed since the night before. Still in the same clothes as the day before, it's a Tuesday and Ellie has patrol with Jesse. Ellie was woken by sudden loud knocks at her door, she groans as she opens her eyes only to be greeted by the burning sun that blinds her precious green eyes. She slowly turns over to look at the clock thats placed upon her bedside table, only to go wide eyed when she read [8:05] on the clock. She jolted off her bed, not bothering to look in the mirror; she grabs hold of the doorknob and opens the door to find Jesse with a massive smirk on his face. "You know its like eight right?" He smiled as he notices Ellie's wearing the same choice of clothing from yesterday but just had messy hair. Ellie rubs her forehead, "Yeah, Yeah I know that...now" Jesse sighs "Well you're late for patrol, Dina is waiting for us at the gate" Ellie raised her hand "Yes alright I get it, give me a sec" she says as she slowly closes the door on Jesse. She pushed her back to the door and let out a sigh, then collects the things she needs. She stops at her desk to look at a photo of her and Y/n, when they were 15 years old, hugging each other and smiling brightly at the camera. Ellie frowns as she recalls last nights events with Joel, now knowing what happened to Y/n only made her feel even more depressed then before. She shakes the thoughts out of her head and walks over to her boots, that were located across the room.

She finishes tying them and walks outside, "Weren't you wearing them clothes yesterday?" Jesse asks as they walk beside each other, heading towards the stables. "Uh yeah, I got indoors last night and landed straight on my bed and was out cold" Ellie lied, she didn't want to talk about last night or her ex lover. "Fair enough, but I can't say the same for me and Dina, if you get what I mean" he said whilst rising his eyebrows up and down. "Ewww straights" she joked then faked gagged, Jesse laughed "Well I've had more action then you and thats sort of saying something, considering every woman in Jackson wants to be with Ellie Williams" He looks over in Ellie's direction only to see a death glare his way. "Oh ha, ha" she pauses "I don't think I can be with anyone else, after past hook ups and short lasting relationships, I just feel guilty" Ellie frowns, she refuses the idea of Y/n being dead, in her mind at least. Jesse notices her serious tone and apologies to her, said he shouldn't of said that, Ellie replays with a quick "It's okay". They eventually arrive at the stables, walking in and taking Shimmer out towards the gate with Jesse and his horse in tow. They stopped when they got to the gate. Ellie felt a hand on her shoulder, she turned around to see Maria. "Hey, how are you?" Maria spoke with a soft voice, Ellie drops her gaze to the floor "I- I'm..um fine" Maria frowned, knowing that she was lying. "Ellie..I know you miss her but you can't spend your entire life mourning over her" Ellie shoves Maria's off of her "Don't you-" "Ellie its been five years! You need to focus on something else in your life!" Tears started to form in Ellie's eyes as she listened to Maria's words. "I love her! I'm not going to forget about her, she is my first love!" "She 'was' Ellie" "FUCK YOU! SHE IS!" By now everyone was staring at them. Ellie quickly got on Shimmer, tears falling from her eyes as she rides fast out of Jackson, Jesse and Dina follow behind her. Ellie looks over her shoulder to look back at Jackson, she lets out a sob; she hates showing emotion in front of others.

It's been ten minutes since the argument with Maria. Ellie, Dina and Jesse are further way from Jackson then they originally thought because Ellie wouldn't stop riding off. So there they were, riding down an unfamiliar road with their horses. The atmosphere was calm, with the wind slightly blowing though the air and the quiet chirps of birds. Ellie lets out a sigh, finally feeling calm. She hears the slight galloping of a horse behind her, then Japan and Dina come into her peripheral view. "Should we head back?" Jesse said from behind. Both women looked back at him, then looked back at each other, Ellie spoke up "No, not yet. We might as well check these buildings for supply's, while we're here". They head closer towards the building, which was a two storey weapon store. Ellie spots a open garage, she  jumps off Shimmer and leads her over, Jesse and Dina follow with their horses behind Ellie. Dina walks over to door that leads into the house and, as expected; it was locked. 

The shop door was open, Ellie pears her head in with a flashlight in hand. Surprisingly, there was no infected to be seen. She walks in cautiously, still wary of her surroundings. The three of them search the first floor, only to find a few bullets here and there. Ellie and Dina are looking though the shelf's, looking for supply's. The room was quiet, until Dina spoke up, "Hey, you okay now?" She spoke softly and kindly, "Yeah, I'm good. Just happy to be away from Jackson" she makes eye contact with the black haired woman. "Who was you and Maria talking about? If you don't mind me asking" Ellie sighed and kept her eyes focused on the floor. "Yeah, no it's okay. Maria was talking abou-" BOOM! A loud noise comes from upstairs, "What in the tits was that?!" Ellie wispier screams. Jesse reloads his rifle, "Only one way to find out" "Wait!" Ellie stops him just before he could reach the stairs, "Let me go first".  Ellie reloads her rifle whilst slowly walking up the cracked stairs, she hears distant shouting. 

Ellie's POV

I reach the top of the stairs, walking down the long corridor. The voices getting slowly getting louder, the closer I approach the slightly opened door. With Dina and Jesse behind me, I slowly open the door a bit. So, whoever's in there couldn't see me. I immediately spot three men huddling around someone of the floor, then sudden screaming is heard from the backroom. Out comes a woman who's running at the speed of light towards the three men. She slices a machete into one of them, causing a bloodcurdling scream from him. I had to help her, there was no way she could talk on all of them by herself. I push the door open and slice my knife into the man with the beard. It killed him instantly, I see in my peripheral vision that Dina and Jesse take out the other man. I look over at the girl who was straddling the man on the floor, repeatedly smashing her machete into the dudes skull, hard. The woman stands up breathing heavily, hand still clutching onto the machete, "Paybacks a bitch!" she shouts. The woman slowly turned to face us.
