Lauren lay awake, staring up at the ceiling, as thoughts of the day's events flooded her mind. She didn't mean to break up with Joey. The long distance relationship was hard on them both, but today, for some reason, Lauren decided it was all too much.

"I can't do this anymore, Joey. I never see you and it's killing me," Lauren said, staring down at her hands whilst Joey was on FaceTime.

"What do you mean, Lo?" Joey asked, a frown forming on his face.

Lauren looked up at him with tears in her eyes. "I miss you so much. But it's just too painful. As much as I want this to work, I just don't see how it can," she said softly.

Joey sighed, "it's only a few more weeks and then we'll be together again. Can't you just hold on until then?"

Lauren shook her head. "I'm sorry, JoJo," she whispered.

Lauren chanced a glance at Joey, only to be met with his hurt expression before he ended the call. Lauren let the tears fall freely down her face as she moved over to lie down on her bed. She cried and cried, wishing Joey was there to hold her. But if Joey was there, then she wouldn't have been in that situation in the first place.

Hours later, and Lauren was still trying to fall asleep. She needed to talk to Joey. Lauren reached for her phone that was on her bedside table. She picked it up and found Joey's contact details. It was midnight in LA, and she just hoped Joey was awake. She pressed the FaceTime button, and waited for Joey to answer.

As Joey hung up the call on Lauren, he instantly regretted it. He felt tears fill his eyes. He slammed his laptop lid shut and walked over to his bed. The tears fell freely as he sat on the edge of his bed. Joey felt numb. He wanted his relationship with Lauren to last. They knew long distance would be hard, but he didn't think it would be this hard. And Lauren was clearly finding it harder.

The day passed very slowly for Joey. He had editing he needed to do, but he just wasn't motivated to do it. Nothing seemed to matter anymore. Lauren had broken up with him.

It was midnight, and Joey still hadn't been able to fall asleep. He wished he could be with Lauren, holding her against him as they drifted off to sleep together. He felt stupid for letting her end things. They had to fight for this relationship, otherwise there was no point.

As if on cue, Joey's phone started to buzz from his bedside table. He picked it up and saw Lauren was FaceTiming him. He paused for a moment, unsure of whether he should answer or not. He swiped across, and was met with Lauren's tear-stained and tired face.

"Hi," she said softly.

"Hi," Joey replied. "It's like 2am there, Lauren. What are you doing awake?"

Lauren sighed as tears filled her eyes again, "I miss you. And I shouldn't have broken up with you earlier," she cried.

"I miss you too," Joey admitted. He still wasn't sure of the reason she called.

"I feel so stupid. I didn't mean what I said. I just got really overwhelmed, and couldn't deal with how much I was missing you." The tears were falling hard and fast down Lauren's cheeks. Joey hated seeing her upset. He just wanted to pull her into his arms and tell her everything would be ok.

"Lo, it's ok. I forgive you. This hasn't been easy on me, either," Joey explained. "I want to come and see you, just for a few days."

Lauren sighed, "What about work, Jay? You can't just up and leave."

"I can take a couple of days off. I can leave here on Thursday evening, take Friday and Monday off and fly back on Monday evening ready for work on Tuesday. I want to do this, Lo," Joey replied.

Lauren took a deep breath and smiled, "I don't deserve you," she said.

"You deserve the world, Lo. Do you want me to stay with you until you fall asleep?" Joey asked.

Lauren nodded, "if you don't mind," she whispered. Lauren looked into Joey's eyes, "I love you," she said softly.

Joey grinned at his girlfriend and blew her a kiss. "I love you too. Now, go to sleep, baby. We can talk more tomorrow."

Lauren lay back down on her bed and rested her head on the pillows. The couple spoke in a soft conversation, until Lauren's eyes drifted shut and she fell into a deep sleep.

On Thursday evening, Lauren stood in arrivals, looking for any sign of Joey. She stretched up onto her tiptoes to try and see over people's heads, but it didn't help her one bit. Eventually, she saw the familiar face of her boyfriend walking towards her, his usual grin plastered on his face. Lauren took off in a run as she raced towards Joey, his arms open ready to hold her. Lauren leapt into Joey's arms and he span her round, holding her tightly to him.

"Never let me go," she whispered into his chest.

"Never, Lo," Joey whispered back.

The pair walked hand in hand to Lauren's car, shoving Joey's suitcase into the back before they climbed in themselves. Lauren had been thinking long and hard about where their relationship was heading, and she'd had an idea she wanted to bring up with Joey. Well, more of a decision she had made, but she wanted to share it with him nonetheless.

When they arrived home, Lauren and Joey spent the evening wrapped up in each other's arms, making up for lost time. Everything felt perfect now they were together, which only reinforced Lauren's decision even further.

"JoJo?" Lauren asked, breaking the comfortable silence.

"Hmm," Joey responded.

Lauren took a deep breath, "I've been thinking. If these last few days have taught me anything, it's that I really can't live without you. I hate it when we're in different cities. One of us is often lying awake, wishing we were together. I want to move to LA."

A wide smile came across Joey's face as he took in what Lauren had just said to him. "You-you want to move to LA? With me?" he asked.

"If you'll have me," Lauren smiled.

Joey reached down and planted a kiss on Lauren's lips. "I'd love nothing more."

This was the first one shot I wrote for this book, however I didn't want to start off on a sad note! But at least it's happy at the end!

Hope you all enjoyed!
