Alice

"Al, can you get the front?" Nina asked as I walked to the front of the laundromat to see a customer.
"Claudette, it's so great to see you, again. How are the kids?"
"They're doing great, thanks for asking... although, they do miss their babysitter." She added as a smile played on my lips.
"I wish I could, hey, maybe this winter? I've got until October here, and then I watch them November through the rest of the year?" I tried as she smiled.
"Thank you! I have like no time on my hands to watch over them for winter break this year."
"Any time. But they would have to come to my house. I've got two other families I'm watching, and that should be enough for me to go to England for a week with my friends." I added it up in my head.
"Have fun with that darling." She said as she picked up her newly cleaned clothes and left.
"And that's 4. See you at school tomorrow, Alice." Nina waved as I locked up the door and shut the blinds so I could dance.
I've watched Burlesque about a million times, and only have this one dance from the movie etched in my heart. I sing and dance until the song is over then I listen to the rest of the album until I finish cleaning up the laundromat.

Other then school, which is always fun, this is how I use up most of my days as a senior in high school. I don't have many friends, just Nina and Cass, and I don't really take to parties very well. I would prefer to stay home with my cat, my dog, and a nice book while I listen to music. I enjoy the outdoors, I love going on walks with my dog, hiking, swimming, I do not run, and I love stargazing. Watching stars and talking to the moon calm me more then most things. I always feel like someone is on the other side of the moon talking back to me.
Ok... so the main reason I work at a laundromat is because I kinda live there... well I live above the laundromat. My boss, Tom, converted it into a little apartment for any of the girls who work there, who don't have a place to live. All it has is a bathroom on every floor, a kitchen on the floor above the laundromat, and my 'floor' is on the fourth, and top floor.
After I finish up I crawl up the stairs to my floor and open the door to my little balcony and stare up at the moon.
"Hey, Nightlight King, how was your day? Mine was long and tiring. I've got about a month until graduation, and everyone is still on my case with my valedictorian speech. I already finished one... but I'm probably not going to do it. It's been stressing me out. I can write until the cows come home, but I can't write the stupid speech." I sighed. "I tried looking up speeches on Google, and found some good ones... but my teachers keep pushing me to make it original. I had an idea, but... you know me. I don't sing in front of people. And it would be so strange if I did it anyway. What do you think?"
But, as always, the moon stayed as silent as the stars.
"I have nothing else... and they say, music speaks louder then words... so... oh! I don't know. I'll try to sleep on it. It's still a month away... I've got- some time?" I shrugged. "Yeah, I know. I procrastinate too much... i get it." I smiled cheekily. "Night, King." I said before I blew a kiss towards the moon and walked inside to get some sleep for school in the morning.
