POP POP

The popcorn spins in the microwave, as the three stand in the kitchen waiting patiently. They had already made three bags, but collectively decided that three wasn't enough, so they threw in another just in case.

"So y/n, how was your first day?" Gary asks, interrupting the continuous popping sound coming from across the kitchen.

"It sucked ass if I'm being honest" she huffs, half joking but at the same time telling the boys the truth.

They chuckle, relating to the girl.

"Tell me about it. School is hell, especially when those dick heads Ian and Max are constantly riding our asses!" Wyatt exclaims, Gary nodding in agreement.

"Yeah, it doesn't get better from here.." the blonde shakes his head rubbing his neck awkwardly.

The three go quiet again.

"It's better than my last school.." y/n says with a shaky breath, just above a whisper.

The boys look at her questioningly, but she brushes off their glances and puts on a smile.

"Thanks again for inviting me!" She changes the subject. Wyatt gives her a weary smile back, still wondering what happened at her old school..?

He pushes the thought aside as Gary speaks up, "It was really no problem! It's kinda always been just me and Wyatt so it's nice to have a third person to add to the group." He responds honestly (which is rare for the boy to get so sentimental since he never takes anything seriously).

She smiles.

The microwave beeps, bringing an abrupt end to the moment.

Wyatt walks over and opens the microwave, taking the steaming bag out with the tip of his fingers, juggling it onto the counter as he lets out a breathy "hottt". Gary let's out a sigh, then breaks the quiet.

"Hey, imma go take a leak, you two can head up if you want, I'll meet you there." He points his thumb behind him towards the bathroom and then turns, jogging down the hall.

By then, Wyatt had finished pouring the final bag into the bowl (which in total they had two big bowls and a medium one). Y/n turns to Wyatt, seeing him grab one of the big ones and the medium one.

"Wanna grab the last one?" He smiles, nodding towards the final bowl. She smiles and nods, skipping over and grasping the bowl.

The two make their way up the stairs in a comfortable silence.

Once they reach Wyatt's room, they place the bowls on the bed and the brunette's soft voice breaks the quiet.

"Hey y/n..?"

"Yeah?"

"I don't mean to push any boundaries but.. why were you crying today..?" He questions cautiously, not wanting to destroy their newly budding friendship.

She pauses for a moment looking down, slightly taken aback by his question. She thinks for a moment, trying to find words- deciding whether to tell him or not.

After what seemed like ages, she looks back up to the boy meeting his concerned gaze.

"Y-you don't have to tell me if you're not comfortable! I-I don't want to pry- I-I-" he stammers, but is interrupted by the girls soft voice.

"Well..."
