His Choice
Third Person POV
Harry seemed to have a problem with Draco. Not like the one in sixth year, more like he just couldn't keep his eyes away from him.
Because of all the mental bullying, Draco rarely had a smile on his face. So Harry made it his job to do anything that could get him to smile.
"You should smile more," Harry chirped later that week in transfiguration class. He sat down next to the blond who blushed slightly at his words but a full smile didn't happen.
Harry frowned slightly. Alright then, maybe some more compliments.
"Oh," was all Draco said. What do you say to that?
"I like it," Harry tried, drumming his fingers on the desk causually while a large swarm of butterflies fluttered in his stomach, "it suits you."
That made Draco smile, and Harry decided that it honestly should be illegal because it's far too adorable. Who knew Draco fucking Malfoy could be adorable?
Harry couldn't help but break a large grin.

Draco sucked in a breath as he clutched his stomach. It's not that he couldn't fight back to those who bullied him, he just chose not too.
He squeezed his eyes shut as a tear of pain escaped his eye. He had a black eye, busted lip, possibly a bruised rib, and scattered pains throughout his body.
Most of the time people didn't bother to physically hurt him, just because they couldn't be bothered to waste their time on him, but when they did it fucking hurt like hell.
Draco tried to stand up as a searing pain shot through his stomach but ended up sliding back against the wall to the floor.
Luna skipped down the corridor and stopped at the sight of Draco. "Draco! Are you okay?" she asked worriedly and kneeled down next to him. Draco gritted his teeth and shook his head.
She took out her wand and tried her best to heal his cuts and bruises but couldn't do much. "Hold on love, I'm going to send Hermione a patronus so she can help me get you to the hospital wing since Ginny is in class."
Draco tried to protest, to tell her he's fine. He didn't need the whole school to know he's weak, but couldn't muster up the strength to say anything so he allowed her.
Luna cast her patronus. "Go to Hermione and tell her to come to the," Luna looked around at their surroundings, "the old transfiguration corridor immediately, please."
The hare bowed and hopped off through the walls. Luna stuck her wand back inside her robes and rubbed Draco's knee comfortingly.
"So what happened?" she questioned, "did someone hurt you?"
Draco gulped. "Y-yeah," was all he could croak out.
Luna frowned and looked towards the end of the corridor as Hermione rushed down. She kneeled on the other side of Draco and looked at him worriedly, but didn't say anything, caring more about his injuries at the moment.
"Okay, let's get you to the hospital wing," Hermione decided after looking over the cuts and bruises. She and Luna helped Draco to his feet, and as quickly as possible without hurting him, went to the hospital wing.

"Do you want Harry here too?" Luna asked uncertainly and sat on the chair near the side of his bed. Madam Pomfrey healed his injures and gave him some pain potions. Draco lied to her about what happened. Having two people worry about him was enough.
Draco quickly shook his head. "No, I don't need to bother Harry with this. It's, uh, not that big of a deal."
"Not that big of a deal?! Draco people were bullying you for something you can't control!" Hermione said exasperatedly. "It wasn't your choice to become a death eater!"
Draco flinched at the words 'death eater' and Hermione's expression immediately softened. "What I meant is that Harry cares about you."
Draco bit his lip and looked anywhere but the two concerned girls next to him. "There's no one that really cares about me now."

That weekend, Draco spent a hell of a lot of time in the library. It wasn't a secret he liked to read but never that much.
Real reason is that he didn't want Hermione and Luna to find out about any more bullying attacks. So he learnt all kinds of healing charms that his magic could handle.
Harry continued his compliments, and Draco thought he'd die from blushing too much. He felt sad about it too. Harry was just playing around with him. It's not like Draco's feelings were mutual.
Draco shook the thoughts of Harry out of his mind and went back to his book when the sound of three hushed voices from behind the bookshelf Draco was leaning against sounded.
"Ron, kindly, shut up," Harry hissed. He ran his fingers lightly over the binds of the books, listening to Ron and Hermione lecture him. They were fighting about Draco's innocence.
"He could still be cruel!" Ron protested in a whisper-yell. He spun around to look at Harry. "You're the one who accused him of being a death eater!"
A low growl of defense came out of Harry's throat making Draco jump slightly from his hiding place.
"Draco's not a death eater, and that's cold of you to assume, Ron. He's changed, just like all of us have. It wasn't his choice to become one at the beginning anyway. You only hate him because you haven't made any effort to get to know the real him. I can promise you that he's the purest person you'll meet, that's not in blood." Harry glared at Ron. "Imagine if you were him," he whisper so Draco just barely caught it.
Harry's speech left not only Ron and Hermione's mouths hanging open but also Draco's.
He felt his heart slam against his chest and flutters in his stomach. It didn't seem real, that Harry cared that much about him to say things like that to his best friend.
Harry huffed and shook his head. "That's ridiculous Ron."
