y/n kept her eyes glued onto the clock. The day seemed to stretch on into forever and it was boring, to say the least. it wasn't that she was going to do anything after school but it would be nice to have the option to go. y/n wasn't even paying attention to the class, her mind was wandering to more interesting thoughts.
one interesting thought being her locker neighbor, Izuku Midoriya of class 1-A. She had a faint idea that he might be her dad's successor, her dad never told her directly but she wasn't an idiot. her dad may be thinking that he was protecting her by keeping details like what his quirk was and who his predecessor was but it didn't matter. she knew. she knows who but she wasn't sure why. any day now, that's what y/n told herself every day. any day now her father would tell her nearly every secret he kept from her.
all she had to do was wait.
"yagi," she snapped out of her daydream and looked at the person calling for her. much to her chagrin, it was an 'old friend' though they never really liked each other. "hello, shoto. I see your dad shoved you into this school as well," She greeted politely.
"I didn't expect to see you here, you're quirkless after all," he replied with a passive tone. "you don't need a quirk to enter this school, I'm just as surprised as last time I check you weren't very motivated into the plans of your father," she replied, equally as passive.
"I plan to be a great hero without my father's quirk," shoto answered, his cold gaze stayed on her. "you'll only be half the hero your father is then," She pointed out.
"watch your tone."
"I'm just saying, the longer you think like that the worse of a hero you will be," y/n defended her point. "what would you know about that? as the quirkless daughter of the number one hero I find it hard to believe that you understand what I will do," shoto replied quietly, his harsh tone was coupled with a poke at her chest.
"I don't need a quirk to see that you're being weak," y/n replied, brushing aside the boy's 'you'll never understand me' tone, "Endeavour doesn't own your body and therefor it isn't his quirk. now if you'll excuse me, I need to get to my locker."
"do you think I'll let you off the hook that easy?" he taunted. "do you think threatening me will get you to be better than my father?" she asked back before heading towards her lockers with the intention of not striking up a longer conversation with the bi-color-headed boy. she opened her locker to grab the books she had abandoned there earlier.
"Yagi-chan!" she looked up again to see Midoriya. "hello, Midoriya, nice to see you again," y/n replied with a smile. "y-yeah! I was wondering if you wanted to maybe walk home with me..." he spoke hesitantly. this was her chance to ask him about why her father chose him to be the next holder of his quirk! "sure! I think that will be fun," she said as she held her books close to her chest.
"g-great! l-let's go then," He replied back. his face turning a light shade of pink.
i didn't expect for someone to be so flustered with such a powerful quirk, that's kinda cute though y/n thought to herself as they started to head out the building.
"so... what class are you in?" Midoriya asked as he tried to strike up a conversation. "I'm in class 1-D, I don't have a quirk so I can't really be in the hero course like you," y/n replied truthfully.
"h-how did you know about that?" Y/n tilted her head in confusion. "do you mean the hero course? you have that little button on your shoulder, different placements mean different classes," Y/n explains as she pointed at the button on his shoulder.
"o-oh! I forgot about those," he replied with a small smile, "do you like the general study classes?" he asked.
"I suppose, we get a free period which is nice, but I'm supposed to start interning with Recovery Girl next week," Y/n said with a calm tone. talking to Midoriya was a delight, especially after the nightmare that was the conversation she had with shoto. "but enough about me, what do you think of the school Midoriya? I heard All Might was a teacher so that must be exciting," Y/n asked, trying to ease her way into the conversation.
"It's amazing! All Might was actually the reason why I wanted to become a hero and I can't believe I got accepted into his alma mater!" He exclaimed excitedly. so my dad chose a fanboy, at least he's a nice one Y/n thought as she listened to him ramble on about her father. she found it a little strange that he knew nearly everything there was to know about her dad.
"you know a lot about him," she said once he realized he was rambling. "y-yeah!"
"I can tell you another fact about him, one that you probably don't know about. but you have to keep it a secret."
"oh! what is it?"
"he's my dad," she said quietly. Midoriya's face drained almost immediately. he didn't saw anything for a moment, in his state of quiet panic I pulled him into an alley way so that we could talk a bit more about the bomb I just dropped. "you don't believe me, I understand but it's true. my dad adopted me when I was about a year old and he's been my dad ever since."
"but that's impossible! how did he keep the press from knowing of your existence? wouldn't there be a page about you on the all might fan page? but that explains why you were looking for him on the day that he promised to give me his-"
y/n cover his mouth.
"be careful, this isn't the best place to talk about that," y/n warned making midoriya remember that he was in a very public place with many people that could be listening.
"we can talk about it at my house, if you would like."
