Walking alone wasn't new for Ahana. She has been doing this from childhood. May it be, walking down some path or any phase of life. Generally, noone stood beside her for a longer period. But now even after one and a half year, she is trying to get used to it; Krisha walking with her. At first she tried to push her away, only limiting till a certain extend. But the stubborn girl somehow cracked her shell and entered into her hollow life.

Currently, they were walking towards Ahana's classroom. There was a comfortable silence in between them. Even though the students walking along the way were mingling, these two girls were unfazed by them.

Ahana always wanted this. She wanted someone who would stick to her, who would notice her mood-swings and act accordingly. Everyone misunderstood her as a quiet, innocent & shy girl but she was anything like that! There were moments where she just wanted to snap at everyone for misjudging her. But she never let those emotions erupt. She kept mum.

That's what she has learned until now. Life isn't full of roses, there are thorns placed all along the path.

She has 'bid adieu' to many people. The list even includes her own mother and father. The 10years old girl was left alone with her small sister. Ahana loves her baby sister more than her life. Even though they aren't real sisters, she never let her feel like a stepsister. She loved and cared for her truly.

Today was one of those day. The day where she would feel empty and numb. She don't know what the reason was but her mood was off. No one can really cheer her up.

"I'm afraid, you are awfully quiet today. Is everything okay?" Krisha's soft voice made her snap out of her thoughts. She knew Krisha was worried about her. Her knitted eyebrows were the evidence.

"Don't worry. I will be okay. Just feeling a little down." Ahana tried to smile but failed miserably. She sighed and thought, there was no use to hiding anything.

"I am having this weird feeling that something isn't right. There is something which is nagging me. I am unable to keep a finger on it, which is why I am so distracted today." Krisha was staring at her. They had this special connection which made them understand each other more.

Ahana never felt uncomfortable when Krisha stared at her like this. Infact it made her feel warm. There was this weird telepathy in between them.

"Don't worry too much. You will come to know everything, just keep patience." Krisha squeezed her hand a little while speaking.

"Yes, I will try. Thank you." This time, there was a genuine small smile on Ahana's face. As they spoke few more sentences the warning bell went off. It was a cue for Ahana to go. She quickly hugged Krisha and entered her classroom.

The classroom however was a mess. Everyone was out of their seat while Nisha was standing on her desk singing some song. No one was really paying attention to her except Jason who was trying to 'shut her trap'. Ahana smiled at the scenario. These people were crazy but they never ceased to make her smile.

She quietly made her way towards the last row. It was just beside the window giving a view of their school's playground. It was a fixed place of Ahana. Whenever she was restless, she would stare out of the window for hours. The endless sky gave her peace, it made her thoughts disappear and give birth to new hope. If it was into her hand, she would rather be a bird than human.

Be a reckless bird who can fly all over the sky.

The final bell rang, making her come out of the faze. She sighed and opened her Science textbook. Everyone was settled by now, maintaining a pin-drop silence. Their science teacher wasn't the type of woman to mess up with.

As soon as the teacher entered she gazed all around the room, making sure everything was on the place. Ahana switched into a different zone.

She didn't realise when the lecture came to an end. She was mindlessly staring at the page, for the whole lecture she didn't turn it. She quickly picked all her stuff and made way out of the room.

"Ahana wait up for me! I am coming." She abruptly stopped in her place as soon as Nisha's voice entered her ear. Ahana was now quite far from the classroom in the middle of the passage. Students were walking down pushing her a bit. She saw Nisha trying to make her way through the crowd and wondered how long she was following her. Was she too much in her own thoughts?

She shook her head to clear her mind and focused on Nisha.

"Are you alright? I was calling you from suchha long time."

"I am fine. Sorry, I wasn't really paying attention to my surrounding. Did you had any work?" She put a fake smile. That's what she has to do right? Or else people will start questioning her.

"Well, kind of. I heard that last year you prepared project on 'Tuberculosis'. Can you give me the head points or anything related to it, if you have so? The Mrs.Sciencefreak decided to assist me a project as punishment" Nisha spoke with a frown. Many people hated science teacher and Nisha was among those. However, the teacher has a habit of punishing Nisha for each and everything. Even though it isn't her mistake!

"Definitely! I think I have kept the papers somewhere. I will bring them tomorrow."

Ahana loved doing this. Helping others. She was that person who would do anything to help others.

"Thank you so much. You have no idea how much it means!" Nisha gave her a small hug with a grin plastered on her face.

As Ahana was about to turn, Nisha held her hand. Her grip wasn't tight, in fact it was warm and comforting. Ahana turned to her with confusing expressions on her face.

"Just because we aren't that close anymore doesn't mean you can't talk with me. I was your friend once and I am now too. Being alone is sometimes a choice." Ahana was now just staring at her.

They used to be close. But she pushed Nisha away.

Suddenly, Ahana started feeling guilty. The way Nisha spoke had touch her heart. She always thought that the people she pushed away, hates her now. But she was wrong. She dropped her gaze to their hands.

This girl was a part of her journey. She was there from the beginning. Ahana's heart swell at the thought that she was the reason, Nisha wasn't her friend anymore. She was too busy in her trap to notice another gem has left her life.

But this time she won't let go of people who really love her. No matter what!

Ahana squeezed Nisha's hand in assurance and gave a big smile showing off her dimples.

............

I hope the chapter was good. I was having a hard time writing Ahana's POV, so I decided to try out writing in Third person's POV. This was my first time experimenting it. I will try by best to maintain consistency in updates.
Have a good day!
