Chapter Five: Dark Tidings
------------------------------------------------------------------
The new week came in the blink of an eye, which meant that Izuku would officially return to the school that morning, and Ochako couldn't be happier about the news. She wished that she could have stayed with them back at the dorm. Hoping that she could help him set things up with Eri for the day. However, Tenya had to remind her that today was her turn for monitor duty. Which meant that she needed to go to the Teacher's Staffroom to pick up the duty sheets for the week. This meant leaving early every morning before class in case they were having a meeting.
As Ochako made her way to the staffroom, she noticed that the room sign was currently glowing orange. Displaying that the teachers were in conference, making Ochako check the time on her phone.
'Five minutes before the first bell?' She thought as she got closer to the door. 'Most meetings are over way before the first bell is even close to ringing.'
Ochako sighed as she ended up leaning against the wall right next to the door as she waited for the teachers to finish up. Under normal circumstances, she would have left to walk around a bit, but, Ochako knew that the meeting would have to end any minute now. However, this would prove to be a life-changing decision.
"WE CAN'T TELL HIM THAT SHOUTA!"
Ochako almost jumped out of her skin as she heard the voice of Midnight yell out.
"Calm down, Midnight," said the voice of her teacher Shouta Aizawa with his trademark drawl. "Midoriya has a right to know all of the details of what happened that night he and Uraraka were attacked."
Ochako froze. 'They're talking about Izuku?'
In an instant, she felt the need to leave, as she didn't want to eavesdrop on the teachers. However, once they mentioned her, it seemed to silence that worry as it technically now concerned her.
'No, they're talking about that night...but...Mr. Aizawa said that everything was fine...and the villains were all caught...did one of them escape or something?'
"Shouta, the news could shatter that poor boy!" She heard Midnight retort angrily. "The attack was bad enough, but to place that knowledge over his head like this?! It could break him! "
"It's not like we're doing this haphazardly Midnight," said the solemn voice of All Might. "Principal Nezu and Hound Dog have both agreed with Eraserhead. The latter has already made room in his schedule to give council to young Midoriya for when he needs it."
Ochako's heart was pounding hard as her nerves began to get to her. She continued listening to the conversation, hoping for answers.
"It's too soon...for a first-year...to face that reality..." Ochako could feel the strain and heartbreak in Midnight's voice. "Let alone Midoriya, given everything he's been through in less than a whole year of school."
