𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐍𝐄𝐗𝐓 𝐆𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍

[𝟐] 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 [𝟐] - 𝐑𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐲

     "Dad! W-What's going on?" Lucy asks frightened. She's holding her brother's hand and running along with the other kids. They were being chased by Brainiac's forces.

Bruce breathes heavily. "Keep moving. Don't look back."

"Where are my Mommy and Daddy?" A tiny voice speaks behind him and when he turns he can see Aaliyah's big green eyes filling up with tears. She had small red burns on her hands and cheeks, from where Batman's exo-suit had grabbed her from the flames of the building Hall of Justice.

"I'll explain everything later. Right now we need to get you all somewhere safe." Bruce said.

They are in a secret Batcave located in Metropolis. It was built a long time ago by Batman and was used whenever he teams up with Superman. The children watched as Bruce booted up the systems. He was locking Brainiac out of every mainframe so that if the alien android started searching there would be nothing to be found. More of Brainiac's forces barged into the bunker and surround them. Cassandra and Tatsu dropped from out of the shadows and came to their aid. They sliced the robots using their swords and made their way over towards them.

"More of them will be coming, Father! We have to move now!" Cassandra said.

"Get to the Javelin now!" Bruce ordered the kids.

"Where are we going, Father?" Terry asked.

"We're going to Mount Justice." Bruce answers.

It was for emergencies only, a haven completely off the grid, just in case the Justice League needed to camp out for a while and regroup. Bruce and Oliver have been working on it for years, siphoning off supplies and goods, loading up on entertainment, storing up on clothing and medical supplies. A functioning ecosystem was all set up in a dome at the North Pole, and all he needed to do was turn it on.

Lucy was staring up at her Father, trembling, bare feet splayed on the cold metal floors. Bruce realizes, angrily and tiredly, that he doesn't have anything here for the kids, no clothes, no toys, no nothing. He should have been more prepared. He should have been smarter, better, and stronger. Bruce slams his fists angrily on the control panel.

"Daddy? I'm-I'm scared." Lucy said.

"Hey, don't be scared, Princess. Everything will be okay. I-I promise." Bruce said calmly kneeling in front of his daughter. "Just stay close to me. I won't fail you." The little girl nods and grabs his hand.

They run to the Javelin and take their seats.

He turned on the jet. "Put on your seatbelts and hold on tight." slowly he lifted the jet and took off. Bruce let out a weary sigh. Next stop Mount Justice.
