We were flying.
"It 's beautiful." was all I could say. I was absolutely in aw, who knew flying was possible, that is if you wernt born with wings.
If only Eric could see me now. With the thought of Eric a pang of guilt shot through me imagining how he must feel not being able to find me.
After a while in the air he flew us to a small clearing on the opposite side of the island. Once we landed he helped me down, keeping his hands on my waist to steady me. I looked from his hands to his eyes, momentarily caught in their depths.
Clearing his throat he removed his hands and went to go sit in the soft grass. I followed him and sat down beside him. Neither of us talked for a while, but he seemed to be studying me as I was him.
"Who are you?" I asked in a small voice. Peter looked up at me from the acorn he had been playing with.
"Did you forget that quickly?" he replied standing up putting his hands on his hips "I'm Peter Pan". he said giving me a confused look.
I let out a small laugh pulling him back onto the ground. "No no, I remember your name. But who are you? I've lived around the island all my life and I know of mermaids, Indians, and fairies, but not once have I ever heard of you. Are there more people living here that I don't know about?
How did you get here?" I was about to keep rambling but Peter was crouched in front of me putting his hand over my mouth to stop me. A crooked grin danced on his lips."When I was a little boy I heard my parents talking about what I was to be when I grew up. The thing is I didn't want I grow up. So I ran away to here to live with the fairies." he said giving me an excited grin.
I smiled in return "Are there more people?" I wonder I my father know of this.
"Yea, I live here with the lost boys." I gave him a funny look "What boys?"
"They are the kids that fall out of their cribs when the nursemaids aren't looking." He said pausing a moment. "Why are you on the island?"
"I'm looking for adventure, I was aboard the Jolly Rodger for a while and...."he cut me off.
"You're a pirate?!?!" he looked incredibly furious. Not knowing what to do I quickly made up a lie.
"No I-uh... was kidnapped by them on one of their trips to London when I was very young, and they've held me hostage ever since. This is the first time I've ever escaped." it wasn't all a lie this is actually the first time I've been able to escape my normal life.
To be honest I felt bad for lying to him. When I was done telling my tale he jumped up once more.
"Well I won't let then take you again Wendy! You shall come live with me and the lost boys! I will show you every inch of Neverland from the Indian village to Mermaid Lagoon. This can be your new home."
The idea didnt sound bad, but I couldn't just leave me father and Eric."Well you see Peter I came to the island for an adventure..."
"And you shall have an adventure!" he said cutting me off and pulling me to my feet spinning me around. I started laughing at his enthusiasm. It was almost like that of a small child's."It sounds wonderful Peter, but you see my adventure can only last one day...tomorrow I must go back to the ship and return to my normal life."
"But Wendy you can't go you could play games with the lost boys and I and tell us stories and...." I cut him off before he could go any farther. "Yes but all of that can only happen in one day. I must return home, don't you get it? I have a life there, I can't just pick up and leave."
He turned quickly to glare at me "You can't go! I...I.. forbid you from leaving!"
I was outraged "Excuse me?! Who are you to forbid me from doing anything?!?!" I demanded not liking the tone of his voice. I turned on my heels and started tromping through the forest deciding not to let this mysterious man ruin y adventure.
I maybe got fifteen feet away before a hand grabbed my arm and spun me around till I found myself glaring into forest eyes. The golden specks seemed to glimmer brighter with his anger, but there was somthing else there excitement and... I couldn't tell what the last one was.
"You said yourself you were kidnapped by Pirates' right?" Peter said his voice a deadly quiet one, his frustration clear.
"Well I..."
"Right?!" he demanded glaring at me. I was taken aback by how quickly he got angry. Slightly frightened I nodded my head. He stopped for a moment and just stared at me, then he nodded his head once as if finalizing somthing.
He ran his hand threw his messy sandy blond hair. "Alright then it's settled you shall stay with me and the lost boys."
I was about to protest once more but he swung me onto his back and took off flying.
While we were still near the ground I attempted to push myself off his back, but he wasn't having that. He reached behind him and grabbed me pulling me so I was in front of him and he was carrying me bridal style.
Knowing now it was to high to jump I had no option but to go wherever he was taking me. It wouldn't be hard to ditch the mysterious boy as soon as he set me down.
As I was contemplating my second escape today I saw our destination ahead. Its water shimmered in te sunlight beautiful iridescent colors, just like the tails of the creatures who inhabited it.
He was flying us right towards it and I could barely contain my excitement as the next part of my adventure continued.
We were flying right towards Mermaid Lagoon.
