=========================
Expectations was something everyone had to deal with in life. Everyone was expected to do something. Achieve something. Whether it was going to college or finding a good job, people expected something out of you. For Namjoon, his family expected him to be a great alpha. Growing up strong and from a long line of pack alphas, they expected the best from Namjoon. The best grades, the best looks, the best strength, but most of all, the best omega.
Namjoon's family specialized in alphas taking care of all sorts of omegas. From the strong brave ones to the gentle hearted. But they only accepted the best. Namjoon's family started registrations as early as sixteen years old and Namjoon wouldn't be any different. They would not want any alphas in the family to end up like a unregistered, begging in the streets. Namjoon was expected to register and get his official mate. The omega that would lead his family's next generation. They expected a lot but no one expected the piece of mail coming in weeks after Namjoon's registration, letting him know that he was rejected and would have to apply the next mating season.
Namjoon was crushed. He had high hopes for himself and they all seemed to burn away at the sight of his first rejection.
"How can this be ?" Namjoon's father was stunned. "Our son is a perfect alpha. There must be a flaw in the system."
"I'll call the organization up right away. Surly there's a mistake." Namjoon's mother said, already reaching for her phone. Namjoon just sat there quiet as they listened to a worker on the line explain why Namjoon was rejected.
"His qualifications aren't ...up to exceeding levels for omegas out there. He will have to take some time to reflect on himself. To change." The worker explained.
"Change what ?" Namjoon's dad asked sternly.
"Everything."
Namjoon went to high school that year with a heavy heart. He wanted to change but didn't know what to change. How could someone simply change everything ? Was his views wrong ? Was he not smart enough ? Caring enough ? Alpha enough ? These troubling thoughts clouded Namjoon's mind and he tried not to let them get him so he built a wall filled with studying. He didn't play with his peers, he wasn't interested in the omegas who smiled at him or gave him lingering gazes. He didn't want to hang on the weekends. He was focused on himself. To better himself. To change himself.
.
It was raining out. Namjoon had stayed back with a teacher for a project, making sure he understood the information. The sky was dim and darkening and Namjoon sighed as he took out his umbrella and began walking home. He was about half down the road when it noticed it closed off due to construction. Sighing, Namjoon turned down a tiny street and headed his way down it.
"You fucking runt ! I'll kill you !"
"No no stop ! Mister stop !"
The sounds of crashing and screaming caught Namjoon's attention. He looked down the dark alley confused.
