"Just here to protect me right?"

Reader POV

"alright mom I'm off!!"

I leave my house ready for a new day at school. Today was a pretty day and I felt happy for some reason. I made it to school and I was at my locker ready to go to class today. It felt like a brand new day today! But it could only last so long. I started to walk smiling until I felt someone walking next to me on my right side. I turned to see it was Aran.

"Oh hey Aran." I said to him which he did not respond and kept walking next to me with a straight face.

Okay weird.

I then felt someone on my left side and I turned to see Osamu.

"How are you Osamu?" Osamu did not answer either as he kept quiet like Aran. I then felt hands on my shoulders and I turned around to see Suna who looked very annoyed and was avoiding looking me in my eyes.

"Suna what are you doing?" I asked confused on what was happening.

"can't believe I was pulled into this...." I heard Suna mutter.

"Let's go!!" Aran yelled.

"Go whe-"

I couldn't even finish my sentence when i felt Suna start pushing me forward causing me to walk faster so I don't fall. Aran and Osamu were speed walking looking around at the people who were staring at us. We all started picking up the speed going even faster until we got to my class room. I was huffing and puffing by the time we got there. What the fuck just happened? I turned to the three boys who were all bowing at me.

"Have a good day." Osamu said and right after he said that they all left without another word.

"L/n what was that?"

I turned to see a classmate standing at me with a look that screamed concerned.

"Oh it was just... I don't know honestly." I answered.

Atsumu POV

Alright so they did it. She got there safe.

I was around the corner peeking out and I could see 'Samu, Aran, and Suna coming my way.

I pretended to be fixing my uniform when they came.

"We did it." 'Samu said.

"Thank you gentlemen." I said trying to ease up the situation.

"So why did we do that again?" Aran said.

"Huh?"

"You told us this morning to "protect y/n this morning and make sure no one talks to her. Specifically guys." Suna said blankly.

"I didn't say specifically guys." I said scratching my head. Yes I did.

"Why couldn't you just "protect" her yourself. You talk to her all the time." 'Samu said.

"Because! I uh.... I'm really popular y'know? If I protected her it would just draw more people in and then she'd be scared and worried!" I said laughing.

"If she'd be scared then that means you're not doing a good enough job protecting her." 'Samu said practically stabbing my prideful heart.

"Of course I would do a good job! I just needed you guys to do it for me!"

"Even if she did talk to guys why would it matter to you? Do you like her?"

"Shut yer trap. I don't like her. Like I said when I told you about this, I just didn't want her to be bullied or teased while walking to class. If she was she'd be sad and wouldn't do good with being a manager during volleyball practice." I said snapping at them.

"And why would she bullied or teased while walking to her class which is only about two minutes away from her locker."

"Well there's some mean and nasty guys in this school of course!"

"So that means we should protect her from you then."

"Wha? I'm not mean or nasty."

All three of them stared at me blankly.

"Well......"

"Fine whatever. Just thanks for doing this or whatever. I'm going to get to class." I said putting my hands in my pocket annoyed at how this conversation went.

I leave those three to go to my class and when I'm there I see y/n putting the chairs down.

Oh right we have that helper job thing to do.

"Hey y/n."

She turned at me dramatically almost tripping over with the chair in her hand but she managed to catch herself.

"Be careful or do you need help?"

"Hm oh no I'm good thanks though."

Darn.

No not darn. Good.

"Hey do you know why aran, Osamu and Suna were acting so weird today?"

"Oh you mean them following you to class? Yeah I told them to."

"What why would you tell them to do that?" She said and I could hear a sprinkle of anger in her tone.

I wasn't trying to make her angry....

"So they could protect you, so you won't get anxious and stuff if someone comes up to you. What if you have a panic attack and then freak out! Then people would know all about your anxiety then they'll bully you and stuff."

"Wow you are turning into a better person!"

"Of course I am, I said I would." I said that a bit defensively but I wanted her to at least pretend that she trusted in my word to become a better person.

"I know I know. Sorry but if you wanted to "protect" why couldn't you just do it yourself? Instead of having them all crowd me and stuff."

"You want me to protect you?" I spatted out.

"Wait no you're tricking me into saying yes!" She said pointing an accusing finger my way.

"What? No! I was just asking." Shaking my head that I honestly thought my hair would fall off.

"Well I mean yeah instead of those three it could've been you. I mean we made a promise to both become better people so it makes sense to be you!" I could feel her determination from over here. She looked all determined with a slight blush on her face.

"Yeah yeah right."

"I'll protect you too of course"

"I don't need protection, practically everyone bends down to me." I say while laughing.

"There's the same old Atsumu again...... yeah but I'll protect you if you like ever upset someone on accident and stuff."

"I don't think I'll need protection for th-"

"Atsumu!"

"Okay okay fine you can "protect" me if I ever upset anyone." I gently patted her head and honestly it was the best kind of affection I could show her. I'd be protecting her always, right? Not like that though I mean I can just be her knight and shining armor? But without the kissing and stuff. But it's apart of the story so that means she'll have to kiss me right? No no no only if she wants to. What the hell am I even thinking about....

"Thank you." She said smiling.

"Oh yeah Suna looked very mad, how did you even get him to accept that?" Y/n said snapping me out of my rambling I was doing in me head.

"Hm? Oh well I just offered him some chuupet. It's his favorite."

"Oh I love those snacks!"

She does?

"Me too, of course I do."

"You like all types of food don't you?"

"Of course I do!"
