LUKA

Pulling to a stop by the front of the palace's main entrance, the carriage doors were pulled open by Vanessa as another maid as well had offered her hand to help my queen out.

I marched down the base of the stairs to greet her. Longing to see that she was well after her long trip to the East.

As I approached the carriage, her red and gold full skirt emerged, followed by her head twisting towards me.

"Luka!" She smiled.

When I reached the base, I dragged her towards me and pulled her in for a fiery kiss and a tight embrace.

"I missed you too." She whispered against my lips.

"How was your trip?" I inquired while leading her out of the cold and into the warmth of the palace.

"Oh it was delightful! I wish you would have come but I understand that you're busy with the kingdom's affairs."

"I would have gone with you if I could. But leaving the kingdom just doesn't feel right. I'll make it up to you." I suggested as I once again pulled her close to my body. Leaning in to taste her lips.

Her curves brushed mine for a moment, her lips a breath away...

"Kalila!" someone shouted down the corridor. Great timing, Diana. I scowled as I transferred my gaze towards my sister running towards us.

Diana smirked. Giving me the notion that she knew that she had interrupted something. When she was near us, she shoved me away and started taking off my mates cloak and peppered her with questions.

"It's been ages since I last saw you! How was your aunts back in the East? Did you get me something forest-y? Brought any souvenirs for me and little Lenny?" Without any problem, Kalila answered all her questions. She mentioned that her aunts were well and that she did in fact brought some presents for us. She went on about how there was a festival coming by on the East the next month and how she's hoping to come.

I sighed. She just came back and now she's thinking of leaving again. What is it with the north that she can't find it more exciting to be in.

Maybe I should arrange festivals as well... Not bad of an idea, the people would love it as well. I'll discuss it with Zest later this evening.

When we arrived at the parlor, Kalila reached for my hand. I squeezed it and led her with me towards the heavily cushioned chair that she loved. She sat on my lap and I held her close. Diana went towards the chair in front of us where her mate was busily having a conservation with their son, Lennox. He did however, nodded in the direction of my mate to acknowledge her presence.

"So... What else did you do back home, Kalila?" Diana had decided to keep asking about Kalina's trip and I hadn't bothered to stop her. I too was curious and wanted to know all details. My mate, tensed for a moment then relaxed. I frowned at her reaction but let it go as she started lightening up. She had this indulgent smile as she relayed her whereabouts and as she rolls on about her travel, I smiled seeing as she was clearly happy. I now didn't mind that much that she was away from me for weeks.
