Save You From Yourself Part II

River frowned before shaking her head and continued her search. She hide when she heard people laughing. She scanned people who were leaving her eyes finally landed on a familiar broze,"Edward!" She grabbed his shoulder.

"River." He turned around at the call of his name and saw her,"what are you doing here, River?" He asked stunned.

"Shut Up." River said pulling him away from doors and windows as she noticed the sun shining high up in the sky. She pushed him into a dark room that appeared to be used for storage, She closed the door before she leaned on the door, sighing.

"What are you doing here? If the volturi find out...." Edward panicked.

River doesn't respond or make an attempt to look at him.

"You should leave." Edward said miserably.

"We need to get out of here." River ignored him as she looked around trying to find a way out without being caught in the sun or find a large clothe to cover Edward with.

"After everything why did you come back?" Edward asked.

River finally looked but never into his eyes, she noticing how broken he looked, he had dark purple bruises under his eyes, his eyes were dark charcoal, his skin was pale, paler than usual, unhealthy pale. Her heart skipped a beat at the sight of him.

"I'm sorry, River." Edward's voice broke.

"Edward we don't have time for that." River hissed as she tried to stop herself from feeling the way she was feeling at the sight of him.

"I want you to hear me out." Edward said forcing River to look at him,"I need you to listen to me."

"I should call Alice." She reached in her back pocket of her black ripped jeans,"shit I left my phone in the car." She looked around once more,"can I trust you to stay here, and not to do anything stupid?"

"You can't even look at me." Edward said sadly as he looked down.

"I'll be back." River said before running off. She quickly opened her car and her phone was already ringing,"Alice?" She answered.

"Is he with you?"

"No but I found him. He's safe." River said.

"He still hasn't changed his mind. I can see him, he's still going to do it." Alice said.

River dropped her phone and started running. She entered the dark, tallest building, she finally saw Edward taking off his shirt. She saw Bella running towards Edward.

Bella charged forward and jumped into the fountain, waded through the shallow water to the other side -- she jumped out and barreled through the crowd. Finally, she saw look Edward, in the shadows, just inches from the sunlight.

"No! Edward, don't." Bella wrapped herself around him to shield him from the sun and people's view light,"move. No, I'm here. I'm alive."

"You're... not real." Edward said confused.

"Look at me! Alice was wrong."

River saw that he wasn't moving and even with Bella shielding most his body, he was still exposed. River withdrew her shield and pulled him towards her away from sun rays. She sighed in relief as she slide on the wall, once he was out of danger.

"Bella?" Edward said in disbelief,"Bella." He said surprised and overwhelming with relief.

In the corner of her eyes she caught three people wearing a black clothes. The Volturi. River stays quiet as she leaned a little to his side to see three black and red clothed people standing in front of Edward and Bella.

"I won't be needing your services after all, gentlemen." Edward said pushing Bella behind him.

"Aro wants to speak with you again." Felix said.

"No rules were broken." Edward clarified.

Demetri's smile suggested he doesn't agree. He's the more gracious of the two. But no less dangerous,"We should take this conversation to a more appropriate venue."

"Fine. Bella, why don't you stay and enjoy the festival?"

"The girl comes with us." Felix stopped them.

"That's not going to happen --" Edward said defensive

River jumped when someone grabbed her shoulders. Alice placed a finger on her mouth signalling her to stay quiet,"you should go, you're safe. Go now." Alice whispered.

"But..." River said looking behind her.

"They'll be fine but not you, if you don't leave now." Alice said before she left. She spoke to the volturi before she followed them. Alice nodded at River when the volturi weren't looking.
