It was a slow day at Firehouse 51, it seemed as though people were taking the day off from making stupid decisions. Which undoubtedly is a good thing, especially for the heroes of 51.

Most were hanging out in the kitchen. Truck and engine were sat around the table, joking with each other and playing cards. Squad had been sat around the squad table on the apparatus floor, playing scrabble and arguing about if Capp's words could be counted. You could find the Captain huddled in his quarters, sat at his neat desk finishing paperwork. The three girls could be seen sitting on some bunks in the bunk room.

Stella and Emily were deep in conversation, sitting next to each other on Emily's bunk. Across from them sat Sylvie on her own bunk, slightly distant from the other two. Noticing this, Emily tried to gain back her attention.

"Brett, we have a call," Emily lied, trying to reach her distant partner.

"Mmhm..." Sylvie trailed off, still not paying attention.

"Brett, Severide proposed to me," Stella caught on and tried her hand at getting Sylvie to pay attention.

"That's nice..." she continued to be oblivious to what her friends were saying.

"Brett, we're drying," the two said in unison.

"Good for you," Sylvie replied as she watched the closed door to Casey's office. As he stood up and opened his door, he smiled and waved at Sylvie. Heat came to her cheeks as she smiled back. He walked off to the kitchen and Sylvie turned back to her snickering friends.

"So that's who had your attention!" Stella chuckled to herself as Emily started berating Sylvie with questions. "When? Have you guys told each other anything? I mean I've seen the looks, but. How has he never noticed! How long have you liked him?! Sylvie tell me everything!"

"What?! No, no, no! Emily, Stella! What- me, no. He was married to my best friend. I can't like him!"

"I think your face says otherwise," Stella said through laughter.

"Okay, so what if I do like him... what do I do? I mean, he couldn't possibly like me back. And, he was married to my best friend. I mean, that's crazy right. I've been engaged twice, my love life is practically cursed. And, I haven't been on a single date since I left Kyle. And- and- and, I'm rambling aren't I?" Sylvie turned to her friends, who were having a field day while watching her struggle. "Okay, okay. You two seem to find this so funny don't you!"

"Oh, yes. Very," Emily choked out between fits of laughter.

Casey walked back into the room, returning to his office and was soon curious about the laughter coming from the girls. "What's so funny?" he questioned.

Sylvie coughed, "nothing in particular." She eyed Emily and Stella who were practically rolling on the floor.

Casey chuckled and went back to his office, leaving his door open and sitting down again.

Sylvie smacked the two once he had left. "It really isn't that funny," she hissed.

"Oh, we beg to differ!"

"Seriously guys, it isn't that big a deal. I'm just going to ignore my feelings and they'll go away. It's just a silly crush right?"

But Emily and Stella, heck the whole firehouse, had seen the way they look at each other. The way their eyes lit up when they saw each other, and the glittering love when they saw no one else but each other in the room.
