Inside the Gaffney ED, nurses, doctors, and surgeons alike were stuck inside as a thunderstorm raged on outside. All the patients inside were stable and no one new seemed to be coming in. The steady rain pounded on the glass, flashes of lightning went every ten seconds, and thunder boomed as it rolled. The sky grew darker and darker, and no one could go home in this weather.

Natalie held a hot cup of coffee in her hands as she gazed out the window. She was glad that Will had taken the day off and was at her home with Owen. She thought about how he must be freaked out with all the thunder.

Maggie was sat at the nurse's station, joking around with Doris and Monique. Already knowing how long they could be stuck in, the three had brought their chairs into a small circle. It was quite the impromptu sleepover but the nurses had already started the gossip.

April and Ethan were sitting in the cafeteria talking. They sat by the window and watched the trees rustle through the wind and soak in the rain.

Ava was sat in the doctor's lounge, huddled in a blanket, and pressed into the deepest corner of the couch. With every blast of thunder, she closed her eyes and buried her face in the blanket. Connor walked towards the doctor's lounge to find Ava on the couch, hiding her face in a blanket.

Chuckling to himself, he began the playful banter between them as he stood in the doorway. "Avey, Avey, Avey. Can stand up to Lanik but hides away from the thunder."

"I'm not hiding-" she began but was quickly interrupted by the thunder. "Ok, maybe I am hiding," she muttered.

Seeing how she hid from the thunder, Connor walked in and sat on the couch next to her. "Want a cuddle buddy?" he joked.

She rolled her eyes, "hard pass." But as the next boom of thunder came, she found herself practically jumping into his arms. "Never mind then. Cuddle buddy would be quite nice."

They chuckled and listened to the rain. With the occasional roll of thunder causing Ava to snuggle closer to Connor. They may be held up in the hospital for a while, but both were content on the couch, snuggled up together.
