First i was small
Small enough there was no place to fall
Close enough to the ground
I could taste the grainy soil
Say my tongue slipped out at allFirst I was small
small enough that with the simple shift of the toes
A sheer swivel of the ankle
Could crush my poor soul
And effortlessly end all my woesWhen i was small
I longed to be able to see it all
My sight only limited to the sky
The sky being the only vision i needed
The only goal i yearned"Skies the limit"
Let's touch the sky
Being so small and so low to the ground
Blue canvas splattered with white soon to turn night
Oh, how you're the apple of my eyeOh, how i wish to see it all...
Willing to go great lengths
Dodging every giant figure in my way
I step into the depths of darkness
Darkness called the Unknown
I want to see it allAlong my journey, comes many crossroads
As i'm progressing, I make decisions
It's a hard trek but I persevere
I build, I grow, I climb
I am tallThen i was tall
I could see so much
My eyes full of wonder
My mind wowed with fascination
My heart swayed into the notion of love, self love, and confidenceOh, how it felt so great
I made it to the top
I have reached the sky
Now all my sorrows will fade
And the new passion i made shall come to fruitionLooking behind me i see
All the morals told and a dark past of me
Empowering to see all i've overcome
Once small, for surely naive
Little did i know there's more to come and i haven't nearly seen it allI was not in the sky
Did not even touch the sky
Merely atop a fairly tall building
Looking over all beneath me
It felt like i could see it allBut i was only looking at a fraction of the world
Realizing the great lost in satisfaction
Barreling back down to harsh reality
Oh, how far the sky is
My mind in a figure 8, twirling, spiraling in a whirlRushing
Dreams of wanting to see it all
To touch the sky
And to never fall
I think to myself, was i ever tall?
