Just imagine a soulmate story for Loki when you can hear what the other person is thinking. You'd probably hear his thoughts at a really young age.
You'd try and have conversation with him and when your parents hear these 'conversations' they ask, "who are you talking to sweetie?" "Hey mom I'm talking to the strange mans voice in my head! He's currently plotting how to get back at his brother and is debating whether to stab him or strange him."

😳 your parents are concerned now. They think you have a voice in your head and that your mad, that or you have a old man as a soulmate. Both terrify them.

Then the battle of New York happens and you meet him after frantically driving their since you hear him say how to conquer New York. You just slap him and say that's for making me seem crazy you handsome stabbing man.

He's impressed and is thankful for actually getting a soulmate and just keeps you at his side not letting you move even if you are about to pee yourself.
