[A/N: Gender-neutral because why not?]

Y/n doesn't know how they were convinced to drop everything and go on a road trip to Disney World. Nevertheless, Y/n is now crammed into Hercules's minivan agonizing about their missed Calculus test. "Y/n, stop scowling out the window and sing with us!" John stops in the middle of his duet with Lafayette to lean towards Y/n. "You look like Aaron whenever he sees someone having fun."

"Shut up!" Aaron's voice sounds from the third row of the van, which he claimed early on for himself and his books. Y/n also doesn't know how they persuaded him to come. This entire situation had to be a fever dream.

Y/n turns to look at the boys behind them. "You know I have a ton of things to finish before the end of my senior year. My college applications are due in two weeks and-"

"That's what you get for not applying a year early." Alex quips, not a shred of sympathy on his face. It was no secret that Alex was ahead of everyone in regards to his college education. He was accepted into Harvard his junior year and already had half of the credits. From the smug smirk resting on his face, Y/n thinks he knows just how well off he is.

"Wait...college applications are due before the summer?" Hercules glances at Alex through his mirror. Alex and Aaron groan simultaneously while Y/n looks on with pity.

"Don't worry, Herc." Lafayette pats his friend on the shoulder. "I'll help you with them as soon as we get back." The French exchange student was taking a gap year to study abroad so Y/n doesn't know how much help he will be. Y/n makes a mental note to offer their help too. Just to make sure Herc wasn't lead astray.

"Guys, come on. Focus on this trip. We have to do this before we split up after graduation." A hint of sadness intertwines in John's voice before he perks up again. "Forget SCHOOL! We are on our way to a place of MAGIC!" He shouts, making a point to nudge Y/n. "Just think of all the nostalgia!"

Aaron's head pops up from behind the second-row seats. "Disney World is for children, John. Children." Y/n agrees but decides against further crushing John's enthusiasm. The sparkle in his eyes is adorable, to say the least.

As soon as John's shoulder's droop, Alex growls in Aaron's direction. Y/n concludes Alex's over-protective side is probably causing him to go feral. "If it's for children, why the f-"

"Alex, no."

"...why the heck is your lame butt taking up the whole backseat?" Aaron clicks his tongue in exasperation but sinks back below the headrests, obviously knowing this battle was pointless.

Lafayette elbows Alex. "Can you - how you say - drag Aaron after we get there? He's the one paying for us, tu imbécile. No one else here has the trust fund money." Grumbling to himself, Alex just nods.

"Wait..." Y/n arches their eyebrow at Lafayette in disbelief. "Laf, isn't your family filthy rich?" Vivid images of his mansion in the countryside and parents holding diamond encrusted wine glasses fill their mind. Not to mention the Ferrari he drove to school.

"Oui. But I'm not wasting my money on these clowns." Scoffing at the very idea, Lafayette crosses his legs clad in designer jeans.

John feigns hurt, clutching his chest. "Clowns? You wound me."

Ruffling Y/n's hair, Hercules chimes in. "Y/n, we're not clowns, are we?"

"Of course we are. Only clowns wouldn't think to make Aaron and Alex ride on the roof." This comment throws the group into chaos. Aaron and Alex yell in objection, John falls to the car floor in laughter, Lafayette smacks Y/n in the head for causing the commotion, and Hercules yells that he will stop the car if everyone doesn't shut up. In the midst of all this, Y/n feels all the worry they had fade away. Anytime with their friends was bound to be fun and exciting. Besides, how much longer would they all be together like this?

Two days later, a group of six friends stands outside of Disney's Magic Kingdom Park. Most of their faces are filled with the wonder and excitement that comes with youth. One, however, is staring solemnly at his overused credit card. "This had better be worth it." Aaron mumbles into his wallet.

Y/n drapes their arm over Aaron's shoulders, bouncing like a child. "It will, Aaron. I promise! This is a world of enchanting childhood dreams. How could you doubt it?" The serious young man shrugs but Y/n doesn't miss the tiny smile on his lips.

Adjusting his fanny-pack, Hercules pulls out his map. "What should we do first? We need to keep it organized so we fit in as much as possible. How about-"

Alex snatches the map out of his hand. "I want to see the parade first." The little gremlin starts to move in the direction of loud music.

However, Lafayette seizes a corner of the map before Alex can leave. "But I want to go to the gift shops first."

"I want to go on the roller-coasters and rides first, guys!" John motions for the map and pouts. "The lines aren't as bad, right now."

Realizing that now is a critical time to voice a preference, Y/n releases Aaron and crosses their arms. "I want food first. I don't plan on starting the day without Mickey Mouse shaped pancakes." Y/n grabs the very startled Hercules and pulls him towards the smell of food. "Come on! Who can say no to pancakes?"

Unfortunately, the long-time football player doesn't move. "Stop!" Like children, the bickering teens immediately freeze and stare at Hercules. Seeing that the practiced authority in his voice had the usual effect, Hercules counts his victory. "Why don't we make our way to the farthest corner of the park and then circle back. That way we can see everything without rushing too much." Y/n raises their hand. "Yes, Y/n. We can stop on the way at whatever food stands you see." Y/n lowers their hand.

With Hercules in the lead, the group conquers the theme park in record timing. Y/n eats every greasy, sugary, heart-stopping food imaginable. Alex gets to see three parades, even finding a way to climb onto one of the floats and pose as royalty without any suspicion. Lafayette stops at so many gift shops, he has to pay four park employees to carry his shopping bags through the park. John rides every roller-coaster they pass and only throws up three times, which is a pleasant surprise. Hercules manages to capture pictures of everyone, which is all he really wanted anyway. Even Aaron goes into a fit of joyous hysteria when he catches a glimpse of Belle from Beauty and the Beast, who he claims is a "fellow academic". Everyone in the group is too surprised to make fun of him for asking the very confused Disney employee for an autograph on his backpack.

At the end of the day, everyone piles back into the minivan. Unusually, everyone is quiet. They simply exchange tired glances. But the wide smiles on their faces say it all. Today was a good day. A day they will always remember, no matter how far apart they are after high school.
