chapter 2 What An Odd Girl

It had been 3 days since Kagome had saved Rin. Kagome was picking herbs for Miroku who had sucked in some of Narakus poisonous insects.

"You have them don't you?" A dark voice echoed.

Kagome looked around to see no one. "Wow I must be tired." She mumbled as she looked back down digging for the herb she needed.

"I sense it. The sacred jewel. You have it!" The voice hissed as cold hand wrapped around her neck.

Kagome tried to scream but all she could do was choke. Her eyes watered and she struggled to get free "In-uuu'' she struggled harder as her vision became spotted. A tall white haired man pulled the snake off of Kagome. "Se- Sesshomaru" Kagome coughed air filling her lungs as she gasped.

Sesshomaru melted the snake demon easily with his poison claws. Kagome watched as Sesshomaru stood there watching her with a curiosity. Why doesn't she look afraid me. Sesshomaru decided to test he theory by reaching out a hand. To his surprise she didn't flinch or hesitate but she smiled. "Thank you Sesshomaru" she said taking his hand, standing up and dusting her self off.

"Now we're even." He said in a monotone voice still watching her for any sign of fear. "Why are you out here alone." Sesshomaru asked tilting his head slightly to the side.

"Oh Miroku needed these herbs I'm guessing that's why your hear for Rin?" Kagome said gestureunging to the herbs, they were the best for pain.

Sesshomaru nodded. "But why alone it's not safe." Sesshomaru said raising an eyebrow slightly.

Kagome sighed Inuyasha had gone off on his own probably with Kikyo again. "Well everyone was... Busy" she said looking away. Sesshomarus eyebrows scrunched together. To busy to keep this girl alive. He couldn't understand humans.

"Do you have no manners women." Sesshomaru scoffed Kagome looked at him confused. "It's rude to look around while speaking with someone." He said annoyed

Kagome smiled they didn't say much but they sat for a while to enjoy each others company. After it had started to get dark he walked her back to the edge of the forest to make sure she had returned safely, but not wanting not enter a human village.

The next few months Kagome went to pick herbs hear and there seeing Sesshomaru often he would watching the girl curiously. She was such an odd woman. She would speak to him with out fear asking small things happy the dog demon was willing to play along and answer. She learned how Rin was the first to show him such kindness and he felt compelled to saved Rin when he found her dead. This also explained her terrible fear of the wolf's. Sesshomaru had taken her in as his own, feeling responsible for the life he'd saved. Sesshomaru had a great deal of respect for his father. Kagome told him about her world in modern Japan and how she was pulled through the well. She told him that it was hard to keep up between school and fighting but she had come to love this era.

Kagome Inuyasha, Miroku, Sango and Shippo had left the village once again in search of the jewel shards. They soon found themselves fighting a powerful demon doing everything they could to keep it at bay. The demon had a hard shell-like exterior, finding a way to break through it was proving to be difficult.

Kagome was thrown through the air just before she bashed into a tree Sesshomaru caught her. "Oh Seshomaru thank you, how long have you been here." Kagome asked

He smiled down at her "it would seem you need some help." The demon said.

"LIKE HELL WE DO!" Inuyasha snarled. He got even angrier when Sesshomaru ignored his comment all together. The demon set Kagome down softly pushing a strand of her hair behind her ear. "DONT YOU TOUCH HER!" Inuyasha yelled again.

Seshomaru smirked before standing in front of Kagome. Kagome watched the battle for a moment before she noticed the demon had a gap in its armor. The neck that's it's week point! "Sesshomaru could you get me in closer I have an idea."

Inuyasha practically Chocked. Why is she asking him.! Inuyasha was frustrated. Sesshomaru gave a sharp nod before kneeling down. Inuyasha couldn't believe his eyes. What the hell! When does Sesshomaru help humans.

Without hesitation Kagome climb on aiming her bow. Sesshomaru managed to dodge the attacks easily getting close kagome lined up the perfect shot. "Hit the mark." Kagome said as she let her arrow fly. It pierced the demon and Sesshomaru following Kagomes arrow finished it off with his sword.

Inuyasha directed his attention to Sesshomaru getting ready to fight. "I don't know why your hear and I don't care!" He said in a cocky snarl.

"Your not worth my time." Sesshomaru said as he was gently setting Kagome down.

Inuyasha charged. "SIT BOY!" Kagome commanded angrily. "When someone helps you, you thank them!" She truend to the full demon. "Thank you Lord Sesshomaru."

The side of Sesshomaru's mouth tugged up slightly into an almost smile. He gave a nod bent down and picked up the shard of the jewel that was in the demon. He handed it to Kagome and turned walking away without a word.

The encounter had Sango and Miroku baffled and Inuyasha furious. Shippo was confused but quickly fell asleep as they made their way home.

Five days later Kagome went out into the forest where she knew Sesshomaru would be.

"Sesshomaru" Kagome greeted with a smile sitting beside him. "Miroku was asked to bless the pregnant wife a a noble in the area. Would Rin like to come to the banquet with us, it's bound to be alot of fun" Kagome smiled.

Sesshomaru nodded. Kagome had taken her into the village for shopping twice before so he was becoming used to it. Rin adored Kagome and clung to her often when she accompanied Sesshomaru to there meatings. "She is sleeping but I've instructed Jakin to bring her when she wakes."

Kagome yaned a bit but then turned with an apologetic smile. "Sorry" she squeaked she hadn't slept well worried about a test she had comming up.

Sesshomaru shook his head with a soft smile. "Rest" he said laying his fur on her lap. Kagome smiled back as she lay in the grass as she snuggled into the warmth. It smelled like damp wood and fresh water, it smelled good, like Sesshomaru.

Bright light and the warmth of the sun. Kagomes eyes fluttered open she must have fallen asleep her eyes adjust to the bright light. She suddenly realized she was laying in someones lap. She sat up quickly a light blush dusted her cheeks. "I'm so sorry Sesshomarus!" She was utterly embarrassed. Sesshomaru just smiled as Rin tackled Kagome in a hug. "Ahh Rin your up."

"It's getting quite late you better hurry or you'll miss your banquet miko." Sesshomaru said helping Kagome up.
