i woke up to my phone going off again. i really need to turn on my notifications. i unlocked my phone and went to my settings and turned off tiktok notifications. i noticed i had a dm from "swayla"

swayla: hey we saw your video that blew up very quickly and we need a female in sway house, and being in sway house your account can get really popular very fast. dm us back if interested :)

what the fuck oh my gosh, i started jumping around. I REALLY JUST GOT INVITED TO SWAY HOUSE IN ONE DAY WHAT THE HELL. but then my smile turned into a frown when i thought. i'm going to be the first black girl in sway house. what if they don't like me.. i thought. but then again why would they dm me if it was a problem. well i guess not.

i left my room and went to the bathroom and took a shower and put on my fit which was just a crop top jeans and air jordan 1s. i walked downstairs to my mommas room to tell her about the dm and see what her input is.

"hey momma" i said and sat on her bed.

"what you want where you tryna go?" she said

"you always think i want something when i come here i can't just speak to you" i said and rolled my eyes playfully.

"girl tell me what you want and get out my face" she said watching the tv.

"ok soooo well um" i said and paused

"i got a dm right" i said

"what is a dm?" she asked

"omg mom it means direct message it's like a text on social media" i said

"okay and what did it say" she said

"it was from sway la and basically they are this house full of creators and influencers on tiktok and i'm talking about they have like millions of followers and they live in this mansion in la" i said

"um okay" she said and raised an eyebrow.

"and what are they dming you for?" she asked.

i read the dm aloud to her.

"kehlani now you know we can't afford to go to california..we just don't have the money do you know how expensive it is over there" she said

"yeah i know but-" i started to say but she cut me off.

"i'm sorry baby but we can't go, so tell them your momma said no" she said.

"ok.." i said sadly and walked out and back to my room.

damn i'm kinda mad i mean this is my dream what the hell..

me to swayla: sorry that seems like a great offer and i would totally take it, but me and my mom just don't have the money to fly to LA right now sorry but thanks :(.

swayla: we would totally be up to fly you both out, we can't pay for living for your mother though, but you can live at sway house rent free. How old are you? are you up for coming alone? is that okay?.

me: you know what that sounds like a great idea let me go ask now!!

i went backkk into my mommas room.

i showed her the dms and we had a deep conversation. since i live in miami and they are in LA and my momma can't afford to live in miami i'm going to go to stay at sway house for 2 months then i have to come back to miami. until i can go again.

"omg yes thank you thank you thank youuu" i yelled jumping up and down and hugged her.

"let me go tell them now!!" i said and ran out.

me: Okay so with some discussion with my mom i can totally come and stay for about 2 months then i'd have to come back to miami. is that cool?

swayla: yeah we'll let you know all the info shortly with travel etc.

me: sounds great.
