"how did you even get into this- society?" donghyuck creased his eyebrows at his best friend. mark sighed, looking at his hands as they all sat in the living room.
"well we all joined for an important reason. saving innocent supernaturals because we couldn't save some before." johnny answered for mark, a small smile on his lips.
"for example my best friend was a supernatural and they took him away. don't know if he's alive or not." jaehyun said simply, but sora could hear his sad thoughts. "my little sister inherited supernatural powers from our step grandmother, i have to keep her safe." johnny shrugged.
"these two brought me into the circle. i practice witchcraft." sicheng stated, getting the attention of achara. "you weren't born with it?" she cocked an eyebrow at the boy earning a nod.
"i started practicing around the age of like 11." "wow that's impressive." the girl chuckled, tapping her fingers on the table in front of her.
they all subconsciously turned their heads to mark, expecting a reason from him. he looked up realizing he would have to explain now.
"i had a girlfriend. we dated since like 7th grade. she was my world and they killed her right in front of me. she was- she was a mindreader like you sora." soras eyes went wide, sympathy swimming in them as she quickly held marks hands seeing him start to choke up.
jaemin watched the actions and as he felt a lot of sympathy for the other, having to help him through his girlfriends sudden death which made a lot more sense now, he also felt a tinge of jealousy seeing sora react so quickly.
"that's- that's actually horrible. i'm so sorry i bet she was amazing." sora creased her eyebrows showing sympathy for the older. "she was. she was so beautiful, i think you guys would be good friends." mark smiled sadly, looking sora in the eyes.
"i would've loved to meet her." the girl giggled, side hugging mark for comfort. "oh dude she was the sweetest. i set them up and everything and now that i found out why she died... that makes a lot of sense." donghyuck chuckled, sitting on the couch on the other side of mark.
"she didn't want to put you guys in danger with the fact that she was a supernatural." mark shook his head. "what was her name?" "yun hengli." soras eyes widened, immediately standing from the couch.
everyone gave her a confused look, not understanding her sudden reaction. "did she- did she have a sister?" she asked, her eyes going a bit dark. mark looked up at the younger, nodding slowly.
"was her name yun hengmei?" it took a while for jaemin and apinyas eyes to fall wide. "you don't think-" "she didn't leave the circus because she had more acrobatic work. she left because her sister died." sora came to the awful realization, bile rising i'm here throat.
"um i know this isn't a good time cause we just figured out some important sounding shit but um, they're surrounding the house." sicheng spoke up, looking outside of the window.
