Chapter 66
Homeward Bound-Ending 1
“Will it hold?” George asked her as the portal stopped wavering. Harri sighed, but smiled. They were finally going to go home.
“Yea, we just need to fix some things to fit with the timeline...” Harri replied as she went over to Alya’s body, removed her rune necklace, revealing her identity before slipping it over her rival’s neck. Alya then turned into Harriet Porter.
No one had known what Harriet Porter truly looked like besides herself and George. So, even if they took off the necklace, no one would know who this girl was or where she came from. They would assume that it was Harriet Porter, the poor student who died in Hogsmeade defending her friends.
She purposefully walked back to George, who had a confused look on his face. “Why would she have to look like you?” he whispered, gazing around nervously, making sure that no one was staring at her.
“Because, Harriet Jane Porter, according to the history books, died here. She was the only casualty. Ironically, I was named after her. That’s what Alya meant when she said that she knew who I was named after. What’s even more ironic is the fact that she was the one who died here,” Harri explained, running a hand through her hair. She noticed for the first time that it had come out of its braid sometime during the fight, making it look slightly unruly and leaving it extremely tangled.
“Wait, so you’re named after yourself? Really?” George questioned, holding back a laugh.
“Well, the girl who fought Voldemort and saved everyone at the cost of her life was impressionable on my parents. It only made sense that their child, the only person who could defeat Voldemort, be named after her,” she replied cheekily. “Come on, we better leave.”
She knew that the portal wouldn’t be open too much longer. It required too much magic to stay open for extended periods of time.
Though, there was one hitch in the plan of getting into the portal. “How do you propose that we get into the portal that’s located in the sky?” George asked with a raised eyebrow and Harri grinned.
“Are you forgetting about our animagus forms?” She replied and he rolled his eyes. Count on Harri to have a plan.
“Hey, where do you think you two are going?” A voice shouted from behind them. They both spun around to come face to face with James Potter. His hazel eyes were flashing in anger and disbelief, but one look at Harri changed his attitude. He ended up staring at her rather intently. His eyes widened, taking in her real features for the first time, from the way her cheeks were structured to her eyes. He obviously recognized the prominent Potter feature in her bone structure.
“That’s impossible,” he whispered, his gaze lingering on her eyes. He reached out to her and she took his hand and pulled him into a hug. She could feel tears threatening to fall, but refused to let that happen. She pulled out her wand discretely, knowing what she had to do.
“You can’t leave, you just got here. I have so many things to tell you about our family,” he told her and she sighed, knowing this was going to be harder than she expected.
“You know I can’t stay. Dangerous things happen to wizards the meddle with time,” Harri replied, George was giving her a horrified look as she raised her wand to his head.
“But, you could change it. You went toe to toe with Voldemort and won! You told me that your parents died...you could win the war and we won’t have to leave you,” He whispered and Harri knew that it was time to go.
