daylight broke and the servants rose with it. jeonghan was always the first to get dressed and ready, and the first to leave his quarters to head to the emperor. he made sure that every strand of his hair was slicked into his ponytail and that he looked presentable.

he rushed to the emperor's door, knocking firmly on it. "you highness, let's get you ready-" he said, swinging the door open. he didn't expect his emperor to be out of bed, let alone dressed and ready to leave.

"i'm ready! is the seamster here yet?!" seungcheol beamed, making his way to his servant's side and out of the door.

jeonghan laughed "he should be here soon, and i'll have him take your measurements first before the twins, so that you can have some time to make some plans with him in the evening while the twins go out into the town. is that alright?"

"you're always so diligent jeonghan, thank you. should we go see if he's here now?"

"of course, my em-" jeonghan paused, "m-my seungcheol."

it was a terrible attempt at a save. the long haired servant thought he got away with it though, and continued to walk down the corridor ahead of the king.

seungcheol, however, very much noticed his little stutter. and for just a moment he didn't care if it was just a accident, the words echoed in his head for just a moment:

"my seuncheol"

the raven haired boy shook his head lightly and continued walking, his only thought being on who's about to arrive.

seungcheol waited for jeonghan to bring in his guest, and the anticipation was too great he couldn't help but pace around. the creak of the large green doors caused seungcheol to spin around, and his eyes caught jeonghan leading in a small boy carrying two large luggages, along with a guard by his side with another large luggage in his hand.

before any words could be said, or the small one could set down his luggage, seungcheol had wrapped his arms around him in a large embrace. "jihoon! it's been way to long, my friend!"

"your highness, let him settle-"

the small boy laughed loudly and pushed the emperor away, "still soft as ever, huh seungcheol?! i know, this problem could be solved if you just bought more clothes from me, y'know?"

"he uses his money to take care of the people, jihoon, you know that! he's our frugal emperor!" the guard laughed, setting down the luggage in his hand.

"at least i can make my own money, vernon, i can't believe he pays you to walk around these walls all day."

the guard, vernon, let out a small chuckle, "it's good money and good company. i don't know how you deal with those long trips jihoon, being a seamster seems way too tiring."

the servant jeonghan was stood further away from the group, a quaint smile placed on his face as he watched his emperor able to be at ease with his two friends.

the three of them were destined to be friends, as they are the sons of three men who were also friends. the last emperor grew up with jihoon's father, the palace's last seamster, as well as vernon's father, a man from a lineage that served the royal family. the three friends were a legacy, friends from birth. every time they had a chance to meet, it was like these men were allowed to be boys once more.

"ahem, if i may interrupt, sir jihoon, could you take the emperor's measurements first?" jeonghan said softly, his hand leading them out of this room and toward the emperor's chambers.
