I'm back, bitches!!!
(6:36am)
Jennie was drenched in sweat from head to toe. Her hair was tied up in a high ponytail that kept bouncing around with each step, and the few lose strands sticking to her forehead, just below her headband. Her heart rate was accelerated, her muscles were contracting and releasing with the effort, and her breath was becoming even more ragged. Her nostrils were flaring, she was grunting, and her knuckles were becoming white with the force she was using to hold onto the handlebars of the treadmill.
"Woah easy there, tiger. The machine isn't going anywhere" Seulgi chuckled, as she approached her friend.
But Jennie didn't listen. Her mind was wandering somewhere else that morning.
"Jen" her friend said, this time in a more assertive tone that caught her attention. "Seriously, you're gonna break something. Slow down."
"I – yes, you're right. Sorry" she said, pushing some buttons.
Suddenly the machine slowed down as did her steps, until coming to a halt, and she took a swig of her iced water.
"Hey Seuls" she greeted with a small smile. However, her eyes still seemed distant.
Seulgi inspected her friend's expression with curiosity. This was a new look – Jennie didn't seem stressed or angry, as she would've expected to find her; no, this was something different she just couldn't quite put her finger on. But one thing was for sure: whatever or whoever was occupying Jennie's mind that morning, had really made quite an impact.
"Hey Mandu" she finally replied, looking straight into her eyes. "So... how was last night? Did you have a good time?"
Jennie choked on her water. Had she been that obvious?
Suddenly, Seulgi chuckled heartily and it made Jennie even more flustered and confused.
"So that's what it is huh"
"Wha – what are you talking about?" Jennie asked, trying to keep her composure.
"Oh please, don't give me that bullshit" Seulgi scoffed. "You have sex-daze written all over your face. Actually, you've been like this since we were at the restaurant with the girls last night –"
"Like this... how?" Jennie interrupted.
Seulgi smirked knowingly. Gotcha.
"Oh, you know, just like your body is here while your mind is having a picnic in Wonderland" she replied teasingly. "Spill it, girl. Who is it? And don't you dare tell me it's Jongin oppa because you've been fucking that guy for almost a year and I've never seen you look this way about him. Come on, out with it"
Jennie blinked rapidly, registering all this information and suddenly she broke into a fit of giggles.
"What the fuck?" Seulgi was confused.
"I love you, Bear, but you're clueless" Jennie said, pinching her cheek.
"One: stop that before I break your fingers" she countered, swatting her hand away. "And two: if you're not fucking someone else, then why the hell are you all mushy and weird?"
At this point, they had been walking to the boxing ring in the far end of the gym, both carrying protective wristbands and gloves.
"I'm not mushy and weird!" Jennie retorted with a sigh. "There's just a lot going on lately with work, and now with the case that Captain Yang sent me yesterday, I just don't know how I'm supposed to manage."
"Right, that case" Seulgi let out a low whistle. "That bad, huh?"
"You have no idea" Jennie said, clearly annoyed.
