Chapter 2-In Your Dreams

"So how'd it go with Blade?" Oscar asks me, first thing in the morning as he flips some pancakes in front of me. His voice is filled with hope.

I shake my head numbly, and Oscar's face immediately falls. "Um.....is everything all fixed now with Blade?" He still asks uncertainly.
"Yeah right. Only in your dreams." I reply sadly, staring at the empty table in front of me.

"Come on Anna." Oscar beckons. "Please tell me exactly what happened last night."
"Well Blade told me that he's just trying to protect me by staying away from me. I have a feeling Saskia has got something to do with this. Anyway, Blade told me to try and get along with Saskia, but that girl just hates my guts."
I answer quietly.

Oscar scratches his head, bewildered. "Blade is protecting you? From what?"
"That's the problem. He won't tell me. Like that's going to solve anything." I say. "Anyway, that's for us to find out." I add.

"What I think we should do, is tell the queen. She needs to know about this. It's her own son in trouble." Oscar says.
"Do you think the queen will help us?" I ask in reply.
"Surely, the queen has to, we're talking about her own son here." He replies.

"Ok then, meet me at the lobby at 10." I say with my mouth full, taking a bite out of the delicious pancake that Oscar has placed right in front of me.
"Sure thing." He shrugs, before walking off to serve the Dawn fairies behind me.

The last person that I would expect to bump into that morning is Blade.
"Woah there, slow down." He exclaims as I walk straight into him, in my rushed state.
"I have a place to be." I snap impatiently. "And you're totally not helping at all. Unless you want to tell me what's going on, but I know that you're definitely not going to."
Blade's eyes widen in surprise for a moment, before the confusion flickers out of them. "Fine. Whatever." He mumbles, staring down at the ground.

I continue to stare at him, although I'm expecting nothing from doing so.
"Forget it Anna." Blade murmurs, before walking towards the elevator, quickly , and without a second glance.
My heart immediately sinks. What was I thinking? That he'd really tell me what's going on?

Feeling a sudden tap on my shoulder, I turn around, to be greeted by Oscar's forever cheeky smile. "Acting strange isn't he?" Oscar asks.
"You really like to make an appearance by tapping on people's shoulders, don't you?'' I ask.

Oscar rolls his eyes. "I'm Oscar. The annoying one. I have a habit of annoying people, what more can I say?"
"So what did Blade tell you, just then?" He questions curiously.
"I'm not going to get one more word out of him, I swear." I reply, shaking my head. "He's just not confessing."
"So we're alone this time, with no Blade to help us." Oscar adds.

"Let's go to the queen now, whilst we still have some free time." I suggest.
"Sure." Oscar replies, tugging me after him as we hop onto the elevator.
There is an awkward silence as the elevator doors close with a thud , and my breath comes out heavily.
The first thing that I notice is the thick air inside of the elevator, and the perfectly clean floor.
Oscar rakes his fingers through his dark, shaggy hair as he leans on the wall seeming to be lost in thought.
The steady whir and pace of the elevator moving downwards is the only noise right now.

There is a sudden jolt, and the light above us flickers out, as the elevator unexpectedly comes to a stop.
I look around in fear, as Oscar and I are standing in pitch black darkness. "Oscar?" I whisper.
A arm grabs mine and he pulls me closer to him. "Damn it." Oscar grumbles. "We're stuck in an elevator."

"No need to point out the obvious though....but what are we going to do?" I ask, alarmed.
I've heard stories of people getting stuck in elevators before, and there is always some epic mission to get them out safely. I doubt that there will be a rescue crew for elevator victims here.
