The weirdness didn't stop. Gulf questioned his choices especially food cravings and food quantity. It was all weird and his mind, his mind couldn't accept the obvious answer to what was happening because it didn't make sense.
It was a phase. His mind comforted, it was going to stop.
However, it did not. A month later, things became worse. Gulf was a Surgery Resident, meaning he participated in most surgeries. His dilemma came one day when he was assisting a surgery. He started feeling queasy the moment the scalpel touched the skin. All of a sudden, watching the doctor in charger opening an unconscious patient made his tummy upset. He could feel saliva filling his mouth indicating he was about to-
He turned around and rushed to the trash can and threw up. Everyone in the room looked at him crouched, holding on to the trash can for dear life as he spewed all the food he had eaten earlier.
The lead doctor was not pleased,
"DO YOU WANT TO INFECT THE PATIENT?" He screamed. "Someone take him outside, and wait for me."
A nurse rushed to Gulf and helped him up. She took the trash can with her as they left the room.
The nurses started looking at each other with I told you so looks. They had discussed about Gulf's state.
"Tell him to come and find me at the sleeping quarters," Gulf told the nurse who helped him.
When he got to the dorms, he threw himself on the bed and placed his arm over his eyes. He started questioning himself. What was going on with him and his body? He could feel he was changing, and he didn't know why. The door opened with a bang a few minutes later,
"What is wrong with you?" The lead doctor was still incensed. Gulf scurried to stand in an apologetic manner. Hands together on his front and head bowed.
"You're lucky you didn't throw up on the patient because if you had, you would be saying goodbye to your career. If you know you're not feeling well why did you come in the OR? This better be the last time this happens or I'm going to report you for endangering the patients.
"I'm sorry," was all Gulf could say.
As the fuming doctor was leaving, he opened the door and Gulf saw many nurses and fellow residents crowding the entrance. He felt ashamed and disappointed in himself. Win who had been going about his business saw the hospital staff grouped atthe door and he went to take a look curious. He heard the murmurs as he peered inside the room only to find Gulf laying on a bed, his face covered by his hand.
He dismissed everyone and closed the door after going in.
"What's happening? I heard you threw up in the OR,"
"I don't know what's happening to me anymore. What if I have cancer and I'm in my final stage?"
"They are saying you're acting pregnant which is more plausible than the cancer story. How about you go and get some tests done. That way you'll know if you really have cancer or the other ridiculous suggestion."
"P'Mew said I should never see a doctor without him."
"You don't have to tell him, isn't that simple?"
"He actually used the Dom card." Disobedience was something Gulf was not planning on.
"Now that's something else."
They went quiet and Gulf didn't get up or uncover his face. He was getting stressed out. What was he going to do? If he throws up again then it would be the end of him as a doctor.
Win hesitated but he had to say it, "don't you think he is suspicious?"
"Who," Gulf questioned,
"P'Mew,"
"Why would you say that?"
"I mean why would he tell you not to go to a doctor without telling him. The last time you fainted too, he was like don't hook any IV or do any testing before I get there. I mean it's all questionable."
Gulf remained quiet. Why would P'Mew tell Win that? As if he knew something Gulf did not.
"I would suggest you go and get tested. Find out what's happening to yourself. This is your body not his. Although you gave up control and all that as a Sub, your health is still yours and you ought to take care of your body too."
"Thanks. I'll think about it."
"Ok I'm going back to work; I don't think you'll get in the OR today. How about you just head home and get some rest."
"I will, thanks."
Gulf laid there taking everything in. It was true his job was on the line and his health was the cause. But he didn't even know what was wrong with him. He was still thinking about a way forward when sleep overcame him. How or when he slept, he didn't know but he was waking up 3 hours later feeling well rested. He took off his doctor scrubs and coat and put them in his locker. He left the hospital and he went to another hospital. Not Mew's hospital.
He avoided the consultation and went straight to have some tests. He was told to wait as the results were going to come out in 30 minutes.
He waited.
45 mins later, Gulf was back in the doctor's office as she looked at her computer,
"Are you a transgender Mr Kanawut?"
"No doc, why do you ask?"
"Congratulations, you are 3 months pregnant."
Gulf laughed. "Ha ha ha nice one. Really, what's wrong with me?"
"Have you undergone a uterus and egg insertion surgery?"
"No doc, why would I do that. I'm a man, I don't need all that.
"Then how should we explain all this," the doctor asked confused by the results staring at her face.
"I'm a doctor myself," Gulf said showing her his ID briefly, "can I please take a look at the screen?"
The lady turned the monitor around. Gulf looked at the level of HCG, which was high. Under pregnancy section, the conclusion was positive. He look for more information that supported the doctors odd claims.
He faltered.
He was pregnant.
What was this sorcery?
