Anxiety had a secret.
A big one.
Like, possibly ruin all his friendships big.
His name wasn't Virgil. That was a nickname he made for himself back when he was with the others. No one knew his real name, not even Janus and Remus. He knew that Janus knew he was lying about it. Janus knew every time someone lied. He supposed Janus guessed that he didn't want to share his real name, after all Janus didn't share his either.
When the light sides had started accepting him, he felt like he had to tell them something even though he still really wasn't ready for anyone to know his real name yet.
So he told them it was Virgil.
Now they were closer and Anxiety was slowly getting more and more uncomfortable every time he heard the name. The constant reminder that he had lied to them.
But he knew he couldn't tell them now. They would all hate him!
But it was getting harder and harder to keep such a big secret to himself.
And one day he broke.
They were filming like normal, Thomas started the video and establishing the dilemma and them starting the debate.
Then it happened.
"What do you think Virgil?-"
"That's not my name!" Anxiety shouted. He immediately covered his mouth panicking.
He didn't know why he did it.
He didn't know where it came from.
Everyone looked at him concerned.
"What do you mean?"
"Have you hit your head? Are you alright?"
Anxiety just shook his head slowly backing away a bit.
"Is this a joke?"
They all knew it wasn't. This isn't the kind of joke Anxiety would pull and he looked far too panicked for it to be a joke.
"You lied to us?"
Anxiety looked at the floor
"What the hell Anxiety!?" Roman shouted "what else have you been lying about!?"
"Roman-" Thomas started
"I too would like to know. If he lied about something as simple as his name for this long, what else isn't he telling us?" Logan said
"Why?" Patton looked upset "why did you lie?"
"I- I never told anyone. I was scared and everyone kept asking and just- I just wanted it to stop" Anxiety explained "I can't take it anymore!"
"So what is your name then?" Thomas asked
Anxiety bit his lip before taking a breath and saying "...Deimos..."
"And how do we you're not lying now?"
"I believe I can help with that" Janus said as he rose up "he's not lying"
"How do you know?"
"I know when one of you is lying. Say it again Anxiety"
"My name is Deimos..."
"He's telling the truth. It's good to finally know your name, Deimos..."
