I've kind of wondered what it'd be like to be normal.

But then I've also wondered what it'd be like to be president.

I perched into a ball and laid on my bed in the dark. 3:35am. I turn to the sound of my window clutter at the sudden bursts of wind. I annoyingly place the pillow on my head but it fails to reduce any of the noise.

I sigh and walk to the window and close it hearing footsteps of a presence behind me. I quickly turn to see nothing there.

I shut the window and run the shit off to my bed and swiftly shut my eyes.

please go away, please go away.

I hear approaching footsteps, every step slightly louder than the last, incresingly making my heart jump uncontrollably. A sound that could easily be sensed from the corridor.

I open my eyes to a figure with a white dress, wearing only one red heel with the other heel missing. She stares intently at me, tilting her head. I quickly shut my eyes once more.

for the love of god I'll eat my greens or something just go away.

I hear the continual sound of drops of water hit the mahogany floor.
I open my eyes to the sight of her face just touching mine. Her hair, wet, dripping on my sheets now. I squirmed for the lamp and turned it on.

It was gone

for now.

Yes. I am able to see ghosts. No. I wasn't born with it. I developed it from a car crash I was involved in six years ago and for that sole reason, I have never been accepted in a job.
I've probably been able to hold a job down at least a day.

4:25am.

I take my phone, and walk down the corridor to the kitchen, opening the fridge and chugging down the bottle of water.

I close the fridge door to another face staring at me. I collapse to the ground and cover my ears.

please go away. just go away.

The light is turned on by my sister, Vicky, who rubs her eyes tirelessly.

"Isobel is it another one again?"

I nod and walk over to her and embrace her into a hug. She pats me on the back and I sigh.

"It's the same one from last week. She wants me to go to her family and fulfil her wish"

She sighs along with me.

"What does she want?"

I turn to the side to see the ghost right next to me. I hastily bury my head in my sister's cardigan.

"She wants me to go to her daughter and tell her the she buried her inheritance under her study"

My eyes soon struggled to stay open.

"Can I possibly sleep with you tonight?"

"Not in a million years. I'm not sleeping in a room full of ghosts lured by you".

I smiled and walked over to the couch that stood a metre away from me.

"I guess it's the couch then"

I lay myself on the bed while Vicky turns the lights off. You can do this Isobel, just a few more hours until daylight. Doze off please, just doze off. I patiently count sheep in my head, one, two, a hundred.

I hear the eerie whisper of voices surrounding me with their pleas of help.

Don't open your eyes.
