I waited outside his office, waiting to be called in. I came half an hour earlier to imprint a strong image of myself.
"Miss Isobel Peachum, Mr Styles is ready to see you"
I forwarded inside behind the man who I recognised as his assistant. A man in his mid forties with a very humble appearance. The office was very grand and wide. It was so clean. Not an ounce of lint was found anywhere in the room. I approached closer to his desk. His head was down, typing something on his laptop. I could tell he already sensed my presence.
"Mr Styles, Miss Peachum is here"
He gestured his assistant to leave the room. He continued typing and room was silent. I sensed something from the corner of my eye and it was the silhouette of the quiet ghost girl whom I had seen lingering around Mr CEO the other day. She seemed my age and whispered something to me.
"I had notice, you arrived quite early"
Startled by his first comment, I looked back at the him, his fingers now away from the keyboard. I nodded quite proudly. "Yes I am a very busy person I have better things to do"
such lies.
"Of course. Well now how were you suggesting you pay for the damage you caused to my car"
He was very stiff. Even his tone of voice. Stiff. His voice was monotone all the time. I wonder if it was right to blackmail him in this situation but I was going to give it a shot.
"I like your necktie Mr CEO"
He looked completely befuddled.
"What did you just ca-it's addressed as Mr Styles to you"
I nodded my head. "So can I call you Harry?"
He stands up and starts to slowly walking to me. "No you can call me Mr Styles".
I nodded my head agreeing to comply with his orders. "Okay sure I like Mr CEO better then"
I took a step towards him, trying my best to look confronting. It usually never works but here it goes.
"I. I have a different world then yours" This is just great. I can't believe I'm doing this. I took another step towards him.
"I can see things that you aren't able to see" he carefully took a step back in amusement while I took another step forward.
"I-" hesitating, my legs start to vigorously shake. Here goes nothing.
"I-I see dead people"
His eyes seemed to narrow in confusion but he stood his ground. He pressed a red button. "Security please escort this mad woman out"
Great.
Way to blackmail Isobel. A bunch of men walked their way through the door with the CEO's assistant behind them. They marched over to me and I struggled to release myself from the overbearing grip of their arms.
I had nearly reached the door when I had a last minute idea.
"Sophie Montgomery" I had shouted as loud as I could.
I couldn't see his face but I could tell he was alerted as his assistant had an astound facial expression. The guards suddenly let me go and walked out of the room.
Well if I was going to be around earning that money that he really likes, I'd better get myself comfortable. Harry's body was now in front of me, he grabbed my arm and his face was perplexed
"How do you know her?"
He gaze looked at me in contempt. I had shifted my gaze to behind Harry. The ghost girl had gone. Which made me realise that whenever I touched him, these ghosts would all disappear. He really was magic.
"I told you didn't I? I can see dead people". He chuckled in disbelief.
"You don't believe me?" He solidly shook his head.
"She was your childhood sweetheart"
He looked at me disdainfully and he slowly let go of my arm.
"Should I continue?" He looked at me more interestingly.
"Yes. Continue" I seemed to buy him but I wasn't sure what else to say to him because surely it would be discomforting for the both of us.
"Sophie is standing behind you, Harry" he turned around to see nothing present and then turns back to me.
"That's ridiculous. Get out"
I sigh and decided to gather the knowledge I had been told by Sophie to prevail against his overconfidence.
"She told me when you were seven, you pissed on your - teacher".
He burst into a light shade of red and his assistant was struggling to contain his laughter.
"I'm sorry to break it to you but I have more of those stories if you don't believe me"
His glare seemed to laser onto me. "Well there was this time where you put your face into a toilet bo-".
"Enough. What exactly do you want from me?"
I smiled slyly and chuckled. "I want you to take away the 150k that I had to pay for your damages". He looked bewildered.
"No. I will not. You deserve the price you pay for damaging my car. There are only five of the kind in the world"
I amusingly clapped my hands. "Hurrah, with all that money that you have why don't you buy yourself a new one and stop asking a person who has never been employed before"
He narrowed his eyes and I mimicked his actions. I was close to walking out if his office but instead I said something I probably shouldn't have.
"Sophie. She committed suicide didn't she?"
He started to tense and glared at me. "This has nothing to do with you" he almost shouted. I walked closer to him and he looked at me, aggravated.
"Do you want me to tell you something Mr CEO guy?" I smiled and leaned in and whispered into his ear.
"Sophie didn't commit suicide. She was murdered".
