{Quick A/N- the majority of the book will be in Hali's POV, the prologue was just third person. If I decide to change the POV at all anymore, I'll specify, but otherwise just know it's in Hali's POV. K, read on}

Beep beep beep

"Ughhhhhhh.... mornings," I groaned, sitting up and turning the alarm off.

Once I rubbed my eyes and stretched, I slid out of bed and took a quick shower, slipped on my blue and white floral shorts, that doubled as swim shorts, with a white tank that showed my blue bikini top. I quickly ran my fingers through my still wet, raven black hair before speedy air-drying it, as it went from wet to natural beach waves. I grabbed my duffel bag and slipped my flip flops on before walking out the door.

In my duffel bag, I had a wet suit, towel, phone and charger, a couple celestial bronze daggers as well as plain metal daggers.

Even though I was barely 15, my birthday being May 24th, and today was July 9th, I still lived alone in a small little bungalow on the beach. I also had a simple Ford Fiesta car that was navy blue, but I only drove that when I absolutely had to, usually with a partially frozen water human thing, that I was able to use the light reflecting off the water to make her look like a human, that was slightly transparent. I had even managed to get a fake drivers license for her!

As I walked towards the Santa Monica pier, I started thinking about the quest Dad had given me. It was such a strange quest. Why send me, to go get a daughter of Iris? I mean, you really could've sent any demigod or satyr, no offense Iris. Her daughter could've stayed in Santa Monica her whole life, never having any monster run ins. So there had to be a reason that Poseidon was sending me.

"Hali, hey!" I heard someone call.

I shook myself out of my thoughts to see the little snack shack that I share ownership with my dear friend, Ryan Halter. He was a son of Athena, Poseidon's greatest rival, but that didn't stop us from being practically siblings. Since he was Athena's son, he had the trademark gray eyes, but instead of brown or blonde hair that most of Athena's children had, he had auburn hair, not quite red, but almost brown. He was about 5'11" so I had to look up to talk to him, which was incredibly annoying, and the only time I ever truly cared about my height, was talking to Ryan.

Ryan and I had met at the young age of 6 for me and 7 for him at Camp Half-Blood in 1937. Since then, we were pretty inseparable, but not at all in a romantic way. Then, in 1945, just after WWII had ended, Ryan came with me to the Lotus Casino to hide for about 70 years.

After we had helped defeat the Giants, mostly by our parents side, we bought a little snack shop on the beach of Santa Monica, that also was a mini surf shop. Ryan did most of the store stuff, while I taught surf lessons, and took people snorkeling. While I lived in a bungalow that was a 3 minute walk from our shop, Ryan lived more in town, since he had turned 16 in January and could legally drive. He also went to school, being an Athena kid.

Athena had come to us one day, saying we better not end up like Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase. I knew who they were, having gone on multiple quests given by the gods since last summer, and also being in the war that they were basically leading. Percy was my half-brother, Annabeth was Ryan's half-sister. They had met at 12, saved the world like every year, fell in love, then saved the world again, and Athena was not happy that her favorite daughter was dating "that sea spawn scum."

While I was offended at the implication that I was also "sea spawn scum" Ryan was a little hurt by the proclamation that Annabeth was Athena's favorite. Ryan eventually got over it, but it was a little hurt to be told that you weren't your mothers favorite.

Since I had no surf lessons or snorkeling appointments till the last 2 hours of business, I helped Ryan around the shop and snack bar, telling him about the quest Dad had given me yesterday.

"Soo... he wants you to go retrieve a minor demigod?" Ryan clarified.

"Yep," I answered. "Pretty much."

"Does he know that that will actually endanger- what was her name, Violet?- more than if we just let her be?"

"Yeah, I think that's not the reason I'm going on this quest. There's some hidden goal here, I just hope it isn't deadly."

"Me too."

"Oh speaking of which, I have to drive to New York, leaving sometime this week, so you may want to hire someone, at least temporarily. Unless I die a painful death."

"Yeah, I'll probably ask James, he's a good surfer, and could probably handle snorkeling as well."

James was Ryan's best friend, besides me. They met at school last year, and really hit it off. James was really smart, but he also loved to surf and be in the ocean, so he was our go to fill in guy, if one of us was going to be gone for more than like 2 or 3 days. We also had suspicions that he was a minor demigod, but we weren't sure.

After we chatted about the quest a bit, and handled the lunch rush, I decided to go surfing for a bit.

"Hey, Ry, I'm gonna go surfing for half an hour, since everyone's eating, that okay?" I called to the back where Ryan was doing some inventory.

"Yeah, that's fine, I'm going to call James and see if he can fill in for you... for what, how long?"

"I'm not sure, at least a week, if things go well, but they never do on quests."

"Yeah, true. I'll say your visiting family and don't know how long you'll be gone. Have fun surfing!"

With that, I grabbed my board and was soon paddling out to sea.

* * *

I came back 30 minutes later, and was about to speed dry my hair and body, before the service bell rang.

"I'll get it!" I called to Ryan, who was way far back in the storage room.

I walked to the front, to see two teenagers, hand in hand, smiling and laughing as they waited for someone to come answer the bell.

My heart skipped a beat when I saw them. The girl had intimidatingly beautiful gray eyes, the same as Ryan's. She had blonde hair, a nice tan, and was taller than me by a couple inches. I knew right away that she was Athena's daughter, and, after looking at the boy by her side, I knew which one as well.

The boy was tall, windswept black hair, natural tan, and noticeable muscles that rippled through his shoulders and back as he laughed. And his eyes. His eyes, were my eyes, my fathers eyes.

In front of me stood, the one and only, Annabeth Chase, and my brother Percy Jackson.

~A/N~

Hey there peepsles! So, I know it isn't Friday yet, but I'm having a lot of ideas, so I have like 3 chapters prewritten, so I figured I'd release this one early, mostly to grab some readers.

I'm hoping that this book is a bit more action packed compared to The Royal Secret. Lemme know what you think!
