Izumi was still in the state of astonishment as donghyuck's birthday party went on.

sure, she attended countless of formal parties before, sight of business man and woman in their tux and fancy gowns along with their glistening jewelries wasn't new to her eyes - but the sight she had her eyes set on, a couple of meters away from where she's sitting, is what left her astonished.

in a far distance stood donghyuck, the birthday boy along with his ex, hyejin. talking ever so happily, smile tugging their lips, and donghyuck - he just shine extra bright that night.

he just looks so happy, a smile Izumi haven't seen before was plastered on his face. he looks like someone who already have everything he could ever wish for - contented - and maybe he does, maybe his wish was already granted, Izumi was so close on thinking that's the case.

cause Donghyuck just looks so happy.

it's no wonder Donghyuck didn't show up on her doorsteps as usual, it's no wonder it's not him who's waiting outside her house in his car - cause he have better things to do than stopping by to pick her up.

she already knew that hyejin would be attending the party, but seeing her exit donghyuck's car still left her in a state of surprise - and the two hasn't been separated since the party started, and they are even going around, greeting guest with smile on their faces.

Izumi doesn't understand why she feel a little bit odd, seeing donghyuck and hyejin together. something just doesn't seem right in her eyes, then again, who is she to judge? she doesn't even know what donghyuck think about the situation.

'whatever really.' she sighed.

to say she's nervous is an understatement. hyejin was a mess, her nerves are wreck and her heart is thumping loudly, clammy hand gripping her phone tightly as she waited for the clock to strike seven.

and not long after that, a honk can be heard outside their home, she quickly stood up on her feet, fixing her appearance one more time before bidding her parents goodbye then proceeding on exiting their house.

and the first thing that welcome her the moment she step foot outside their gates is the rare sight of her ex boyfriend.

hyejin's breath hitch, donghyuck stood near his car, standing full on his glory, white turtle neck hugging his toned body tightly, complimented with black suit blazer along with black skinny jeans and shoes - summing it all up, donghyuck looks breath taking.

she blink a couple of times when her ex finally notice her presence, smiling lightly to cover up the fact she toom a good minute just to check him out.

every step suddenly feels like a torture, hyejin grew worried that donghyuck might ended up hearing her heart wilding inside her ribcage.

she find the whole ordeal peculiar - who wouldn't? when her ex is right in front of her, picking her up to his birthday party. where in fact, she think, none of that should happen.

while other side of her is trying to argue, telling her everything is fine. they ended their four year long relationship when they were eighteen - they mutually agree to the decision and they are civil, at the end of the day, it isn't wrong.

'then why am I making a big deal out of this?' she sighed.

"thanks for picking me up." she smiled gratefully when donghyuck finally slip into the driver's seat.
