Why Look For A Dragon When We Already Have One?

I'm laying on something cold and hard when I come to, my eyes remaining closed, for now. At least until I can figure out where I am. "They awaken. You're certain this will hold them." I hear a voice, Count Vertigo, question. "The cage is impenetrable." Another voice answers, "Even the Superboy has no chance of escaping." I sit up slowly, body aching, seeing Kaldur grab onto the bars angrily.

"You are not the only one trained in the mystic arts, Wotan." He exclaims, the markings on his arms lighting up as he pulls at the bars. I place my hand on his shoulder, and he glances at me. "Please, Atlantian. Do not pretend you're in my league." Wotan states. I place my hands upon the bars, like Aqualad did, and say. "You say that Superboy cannot break these bars, but what about a dragon?" I ask.

"A dragon? Don't make me laugh." He says, mockingly. "Where would you even find a dragon? Where would you even look?" I give him the biggest smirk I've ever done, and he stares back at me uneasy. "Why look when we already have one?" I state.

I pull at the bars, and they begin to bend, creaking as the pressure adds. Just as I pull the first two off, Wotan is suddenly hit in the back by an invisible force, and he lands in the water. The cage disappears and everyone starts falling. We all land in a shallow bit of water, and it takes me all I can, not to scream in terror. I glance at Kaldur, and notice Poison Ivy standing in front of him and Artemis. They both go for their weapons, only to find that they've been taken.

"Ah. I feel naked. And not in a fun way." Artemis states. "We will have to make our own fun." I say. "As we have been trained." Aqualad continues. As he dodges one of the plants, I go running past them, jumping up in the air to kick Ivy in the head. Just inches above her head, a branch hits me in mid-air. I go flying back, crashing into Kaldur, seconds after he sends Artemis into the air.

Having landed on Kaldur's chest, my eyes peer up to his. The amount of alarm from the impact is obvious in his eyes.

I get up off him and pull him to his feet. "Sorry." I say, before running to attack Vertigo and Black Adam. I jump up and manage to kick Vertigo in the head, doing a back flip before landing on my feet in front of Black Adam. He lifts his hand up and slams it down. I catch his wrist, stopping his blow. With one swift movement, I throw him over my shoulder, sending him into Ultra-Humanite. They both go down in an epic crash.

"Where are Robin and the Martian?" I hear Vertigo ask. Everyone stops fighting as we all turn to see the giant antenna plant covered in blinking lights. They all turn green, and the plant explodes into flames. Poison Ivy raises her arms, large vines following her every move. She sends them at Miss M and Robin, who have appeared upon the glass roof of the building. I run up behind her and kick her legs out from under her. She falls into the mud face forward.

"Kill them. Kill them all." Vertigo orders. I sneak my way around him, which is easy seeing as how he's focusing on the others and not me. Once I get close enough, I grab his shoulders and flip him over my shoulder. He goes flying back and lands behind the trees.

I turn around, only to get hit by a beam from Atomic Skull. I end up flying backwards into a tree. I'm dizzy for only a moment. "Enough!" I hear, looking up to see Wotan hovering above us all. He creates multiple beams of energy that target the whole team, knocking us all back in pain.

Suddenly, the bioship flies over Kaldur and Megan, opening up a hatch, and the duffle bag falls out. Kaldur pulls out the Helmet of Fate. My heart drops at the mere sight of it. The world seems to slow down on me. Wotan stops the beams of energy. "No, Aqualad! Don't!" Wally yells. I stare in horror as Aqualad lowers it onto his head. No... "No!" I scream.

In a bright flash, Aqualad has become Doctor Fate. I shake my head, getting back on focus. The sooner this is over, the sooner I can talk to Fate. Fate flies up to Wotan, stating to the sorcerer, "Wotan, you are mine." "Wonderboy, you are mine." I hear someone say, turning to see Joker slashing a small knife at Robin as he dodges each swing. Eyes narrowed, I run up to them.

With my skin to scales, I run in between the two, taking a blow that would've hit Robin in the stomach. The blade breaks on contact. I swing a left, and the Joker is down for the moment. I turn to see Robin staring at me. I turn my scales back to skin. "You know what they say, those with wings have to look out for each other. Or whatever it is." I say, a small smile on my face.

I turn just in time to see Artemis get knocked over by Wolf, and Kid duck before getting hit by Ultra-Humanite. I run over, flipping over the gorilla's shoulders, twisting to face him, and kicking him backwards. He flies back while I do a backflip and land on my feet. "Do you always land on your feet?" Kid asks, looking at me annoyed. "Not always, only when I plan it." I answer.

"I can defeat you and I will!" I hear Wotan shout, just before he's shot down to the ground. I look up to see the League members coming. "Not tonight, Wotan." Zatarra calls out to him. Slowly, the villains back up into a small circle as the members begin the circle them. "It's over." Batman states. Vertigo and Ivy share a look before they all raise their hands in the air. "There will be another day." Vertigo says, glowering.

"Another day? Another day!" We all turn to see Joker standing up from the mud, his nose and mouth bleeding from my punch. He starts raving to us, "There won't be another day! Not for any of us." He cackles, raising his arms. His gloves beep as he wriggles his fingers, and vines come up from beneath the mud, sprouting something that explodes into gas.

"Joker venom spores. Don't breathe." Batman orders as he knocks out the laughing clown. "Fear not." Fate calls to us, rising above the giant smoke clouds. He makes a golden symbol, an ankh, in the sky, and all the gas is sucked into it. It then disappears. "Fate has intervened."

His eyes are on me. I can feel them. But is it Fate staring at me, or Kaldur? All I can do is gaze back.
