𝑇𝐻𝐸 𝑆𝐼𝐺𝐻𝑇 𝐵𝐸𝐹𝑂𝑅𝐸 me was confusing to say the least. My body was wrecked. I had dark circles residing under my eyes, reminiscent of Jasper's. Oh, God how I missed Jasper. I knew he was far away..that he had no idea what my life had turned into. It was for the best- not that I had a choice in the matter. I had no way of contacting him or any of the vampires I had called family. I had to face this alone- with the exception of Aunt Jayne, and the ever so optimistic Penelope.

"Kid! We gotta' get going." I slipped on a jacket and shuffled on my boots. I had managed to become clumsier just knowing I had this thing growing inside me. Fuck. It still hadn't set in yet..I'd only known for a few days, but it didn't seem real.

I stumbled over to a smiley Jayne and followed her out to her rust bucket, climbing in the passenger. I set my hands on my stomach, almost instinctively, but moved them to my pockets once I caught myself. No, just no. "Are you..alright?" My eyes flashed to meet her worried ones and I lifted my lips into a half-hearted smile.

"Probably not." She nodded her head and turned her gaze to the road, drumming her rings on the wheel.

"It's gonna' be fine- whatever happens."

I didn't respond- we didn't know that. It took us a good fifteen minutes to get to the doctor's office, most of that time spent in a semi-uncomfortable silence. I felt like I was burdening my aunt, and I had absolutely no idea what to do. She pulled into the lot and we exited the broken vehicle before making our way to the entrance. I was nervous, and my stomach was doing somersaults. I willed the nausea to stop, and thankfully it listened.

I had an appointment with Penelope scheduled in a few minutes, and almost directly after that I had an ultrasound. I was terrified to say the least. Aunt Jayne and I sat in the moss-colored chairs in the waiting room after I signed in. It was cold, considerably cold considering we were in Forks, and I had to wrap my arms around my waist to keep warm.

A door creaked open in front on my and the honey-brown eyes of Penelope dazzled at me, beckoning me to follow her.I got up and said a quick goodbye to Jayne before following her to her office. The woman was eccentric, but not the kind I was used to. Her office was filled with sparkles and rainbows- it was almost nauseating (in a good way). She motioned for my to sit down on the couch she had in the middle of the room, and I abided. The blonde sat in a seat close to me- she hated her desk chair.

"Okay.." She twirled a bright pink pen between her fingers and gave me a mock-pointed look. I laughed at her antics and felt my nerves dissipate ever so slightly.

"Meds?"

"Yes."

"Any nightmares?"

"A few, but less frequent."

"Have you been eating?"

"Like a hog." She giggled and wrote a note down on her clipboard.

"Hmm..anything else I should know about." She had a grin on her face that faded quickly when she saw my changed expression. "I'm going to take that as a yes." I nodded my head and fiddled with my hands. I didn't like saying the words, that made it real.

"I-I'm..fuck. This is hard." She nodded her head and carefully set a manicured hand over mine, offering a reassuring smile.

"It's okay, Rose. Take your time." I nodded my head and took a deep breath.

"I'm pregnant." Her eyes widened slightly, and her mouth opened a little.

"From...?" I nodded my head, focusing my gaze on the floor.
