POV:

ALEXANDER, THE LASER TAG KING(QUEEN)

Thomas Jefferson's thirteenth birthday party. I hate Thomas. He hates me. We don't agree about anything. Well, soon we'd both agree that I'm better at laser tag. EVERYONE would agree.

The whole group of us walk into the building, it had a sign on the door saying, 'arcade'. But, only little kids went there for that sucky little thing. Laser tag was the main attraction. This place had the best laser tag arena in the city. With flashing lights guaranteed to give you a headache and . I was ready.

"Thomas, you're not gonna leave me alone in there, right?" James Madison whispers and I roll my eyes. Madison used to be my friend. I had excused his annoying baby-ish behavior when we were friends but now it annoyed me more than it should. Thomas pats the boy but doesn't give a verbal answer. See? Look at how much of a jerk he is. He's going to leave his friend behind to have a panic-attack in the laser-tag arena. It's the 'two-faced piss head' for me.

Mulligan, an older kid but really nice, if a bit of a bad influence sometimes. He is standing at the very back of the group motioning for me to stop lagging behind as we walk up to the tiny desk with an equally tiny woman standing at it... although it makes me kind of angry that the 'tiny' woman is actually... taller than me... whatever... The cool and awesome TALL woman stands at the desk thingy and all of us wait for Jefferson to sign our party in. I make sure to get put on the opposite team as him.

The lady makes us watch a video on a little tv that we all have to crane our necks to look at and then she opens the doors to the preparation area which has MORE TVS that play the same video we just watched but better quality so now I look at her with a confused expression but she doesn't notice. She's too busy arguing with the fifteen year old Samuel Seabury about how he shouldn't be on Thomas' team because it'll be unfair that almost all the younger kids are on one team. We aren't that much younger, Lafayette is barely twelve but he wouldn't be seen as a younger kid because he's tall. While, I'm twelve and 4'8 so people always think I'm fuCKING TEN- I AM NOT TEN, SHUT UP! Madison is EVEN shorter than me and older so he balances it out... and makes me NOT the shortest in the school. Anyways, we have Mulligan so we'll be fine.

I go to one of the vests and guns hanging on the wall opposite of Thomas and my stomach starts to twist... okay... I've only actually played laser tag once but I think I did pretty good. I never actually found out the score because I was six... but... Whatever! I can still win. I used to play with this kid and his nerf guns back on the island and that's actually how I learned French. He spoke French...

"Alex. Alex! Come on, what are you doing?" Laurens interrupts my thoughts. I shake my head to fully remove them and then smile at Laurens. He blinks at me and then grabs my arm to pull me into the laser tag arena. The next door is open now and there is a countdown of thirty seconds playing in the background. I guess the game is starting, oop.
