remedial goodness / ben's office

riley was always in the spirit to welcome people to a new place. so this morning when she woke up, she decided a way to welcome the teens was to bring them cookies.

so here she was now, walking down the hallway to the far corner of the library where fairy godmother had told her remedial goodness was taking place. she held a smile on her face, holding a plate of cookies proudly in front of her trying not to drop them.

as she studied the hallway, she watched as jane walked out of the secluded library corner holding a binder shakily while muttering under her breath. not wanting to freak the poor girl out anymore than she already was, riley offered a small unseen smile and turned into the area, watching as jay and carlosfought over answering a question.

'good morning fairy godmother' riley said as she continued walking, stopping behind the desk holding mal and evie.

'oh good morning dear.' the woman spoke, watching the girl with a smile. riley noticed the attention in the room changed from the wand-bearing lady at the front to her.

holding up the plate she smiled and said a barely audible 'I brought cookies' which caused the two boys to spring out of their chairs and race to take the plate.

'I thought it would be nice. think of it as a welcome treat." she continued, seeing evie get out of her chair and grab two cookies for herself and Mal, placing it in front of her childhood best friend.

'where did you learn to make these?' Carlos asked, his mouth full making the question sound jumbled.

'my mother. all that time in her tower made her perfect the craft along with many others.' Riley responded, smiling at the boy before looking at mal, who hadn't said anything since she entered the room. she noticed the drawings mal had entertained herself with doing.

'you learn anything else from her?' the purple haired girl asked, looking up at the princess who had busied herself with admiring the drawing of the wand.

'no not really. she's with my brother more than she is with me. I'm more inclined to be with my dad more.' she answered absent mindedly, a grin settled on her face as she thought of everything her dad had taught her.

'you ever steal anything?' mal questioned once again.

'besides my moms recipe book, no. she scares me when she mad.' Riley responded, looking directly into mal's eyes, immediately noticing the flecks of blue hidden near her pupil.

'bummer' mal responded, getting disinterested as the conversation buzzes outside of her focus of getting the wand.

'well I have to get going but if you guys have any questions or concerns find me and i'll see what I can do.' Riley said, looking away from the purple haired girl.

as riley turned, scattered goodbyes followed her as she made her way down the hallway that she walked to reach the group of teens.

a pair of green eyes followed her out, making said green eyes grab the spell booked in her bag with an idea in store.

sitting in his office, ben was going over preparations for the coronation waiting for riley to return from visiting the vk's. his head goes up when he hears a light knock before the door opens revealing riley. he immediately stands up and heads over to her.

"so how was it?" ben ask while placing a kiss on the crown of her head.

"it was ok.  jay and carlos seemed to have enjoyed the cookies," riley said with a giggle, "mal seems to enjoy drawing though. her artwork is almost better than mothers."

"maybe talk to her about joining art club. i'm sure rapunzel will be fine with it," ben said while making his way back to his desk.

"i just don't want them to think we're trying to change them. they need to maybe settle a bit more before we try signing them up for things. we don't need to overwhelm them." she said while thinking about the quartet. something about them made her feel protective of them.

"why don't we wait until after today and you can ask mal about it? it never hurts to ask riles." ben stated while looking right at his girlfriends' eyes with hidden flakes of gold hidden within her iris'. "if she says no then give her more time, okay?"

"yeah. i just want to give them the best chance. i know they didn't get one on the isle and god knows their parents were probably terrible to them." riley says while thinking of some of the rumors she heard about the group of teenagers. "i wanna prove to people that they can change if they have the guidance but judgment from them is just going to obscure any view that could change that."

"all we can do is just try riles. after all, they wouldn't have been able to come here if it weren't for you think of it."

"i know ben. trust me i know."
