Chapter Five- I Dare you to reminisce.

LEO-

Leo stared at the spot in which his immortal father had just disappeared. Man, having a godly parent is so weird, Leo thought. As he turned around he bumped into something...or someone. They tumbled to the floor and Leo got a mouthful of hair.

"Pfft pfft.." Leo sputtered. When he finally untangled himself he propped himself up on his elbows and examined who had just bumped into him.

"Rachel?"

"Was that Hephaestus?" She replied. He stared at the red-headed girl. Her curly hair was flowing down her shoulders and tucking into her cloak. Her splash of freckles across her cheeks really set off the pallor of her skin.

"Uhh yeah.." he said confused. Rachel reached a hand out and he took it, balancing himself on his feet.

"What did he want?"

"He wanted to say thanks for saving the world, oh and that the next time I die, I'm staying dead."

"Huh, cool!" Rachel answered.

"I think you're the first person to not freak or cry when seeing me today."

"Hmm?" Rachel was staring at the spot in which Hephaestus stood. "Oh yeah, well I knew you were alive."

"You had a prophecy about me? What did it say? 'Don't cry, Leo Valdez isn't dead, everyone should give him a kiss instead?'" He gave Rachel a wicked grin and saw a smile tug at the edge of her mouth.

"No, Apollo told me when he was giving me back my prophecy, but he said I couldn't tell anyone. His reason was 'it would be hella cute to see everyone's reactions.'"

"What happened to Apollo anyway? Last time I saw him he was being sent to the naughty corner in Olympus."

"Oh Zeus was dead angry, but Apollo got his mother Leto to ease up the punishment." Rachel shrugged. "It worked back when Apollo killed Zeus' Cyclopes' for casting Asclepius into Tartarus. He thought it was worth a shot, anyway it paid off, he just got a 2000 year ban from Olympus." Leo nodded along to what she was saying. 2,000 years is a damn long time but he guessed for someone who was immortal it's not as long as one would think. Calypso was on her island for 3,000 years and she's still doing great, especially now she's with Leo.

"Alright well, I'm off to sleep, see you around Dare." Rachel lifted her hood and nodded; she walked a few steps then turned around.

"Hey, Valdez!" She called. "Good to have you back." She winked; Leo smiled and waved shyly at her. He headed back to the Hephaestus cabin and crawled into his bed. Leo fell asleep with a giant grin on his face. It's been so long since he's been home and slept in his own bed. And for one of the first times ever, he slept peacefully without any nightmares.

The next morning he got to have breakfast with his friends. Chiron let the gang (including Calypso and Nico) all sit together on a table, as a treat for saving the world and not being dead. Jason and Piper were eating cereal, Percy eating blue pancakes next to Annabeth (he wondered if he would ever understand Percy's thing with blue food). Nico scowled at the Apollo table, Leo could see Will Solace winking at him. As for Hazel and Frank, they were telling tales about what was happening in Camp Jupiter. Every now and again everyone would laugh hysterically. It warmed Leo's heart to finally see everyone so at peace.

He stared at each one of his best friend and remembered all the events they shared together. He thought to the very beginning when he was falling down the Grand Canyon and seeing Jason fly, and seeing Hedge with goat legs- what a shock that was. He remembered his quest with Jason and Piper to save her father. It made him smile that even though all their earliest memories were a trick of the mist, they still managed to be inseparable. The original trio. He thought of when he was possessed and fired upon Camp Jupiter, seeing Jason getting hit in the head with a brick actually made Leo feel really guilty. His shared blackout with Hazel when they found out she went out with his great grandfather. Having to get the celestial bronze plate away from self-obsessed Narcissus and his 'bad boy supreme' look, Leo cringed at that memory. He recalled his underwater adventure with Frank when he first bonded with the big guy. When he found Archimedes spheres and used them to save Frank and Hazel, Leo had never been so terrified. The discovery/crash land of Ogygia where he met his new love Calypso and where got his first kiss after weeks of dealing with her stubbornness. Running through the new labyrinth with Hazel, that thing had danger at every turn, thanks to Hazel. The hunger games remake with Nike. Leo laughed to himself thinking about the popcorn bombs "Oh no! Popcorn! Our fatal weakness!" Hazel had shouted. The fight with the giants, when Leo got to fight alongside his father and then watching Jason see his father for the first time, that memory made Leo warm inside and not just because he's a fire user. His final battle with everyone on Camp half blood, watching Greeks and Romans finally work together.

"Oh and by the way, I love you guys." Leo had said to Jason and Piper as he soared up higher on Festus and disintegrated Gaia. Yeah, Leo thought he'd been through a whole lot in such a short time but looking at everyone now, happy and cheerful. Leo couldn't be more grateful for that Physician's cure.
