“Do you have to leave?”

“Well it’s not like I can just run away. I don’t have anywhere to go,” you laughed as you shook your head.

“You could come to my house,” Kageyama pouted a bit, looking down at you.

“As much as I would love to stay, we both know I have to leave Tobes,” you said.

“Stop calling me that,” he frowned a bit.

“Is ‘King’ better?” You glanced up at him with a smirk.

“Dumbass,” he whacked your head, much more lightly than usual you noticed. He paused and thought for a second, “We could hide you in the closet. Mom never looks in there,” (That’s where I’ve been hiding for 3 years lmao)

“Tobio!”

“Sorry,” he murmured and your eyes softened.

He likes to act all tough but he’s really just a baby. You had to keep yourself from laughing, “Hey, I’ll be back in a couple years. We’re not sure how many… but I will be back!”

“But America is so far away. And kinda a crappy country,” he mused.

“Tell me about it,” you sighed then smiled up at you best friend, “But I promise to keep in touch!”

“Really?” He looked hopeful as you nodded.

“Of course! And will you stop yelling at your teammates?” You crossed your arms.

He scowled a bit, “They’re just so slow, and-”

“Tobio…” you growled a bit and he stopped.

“I’ll try,”

“You can match your sets to their talents you know,” you reminded him.

“You’re leaving for America tomorrow and you’re lecturing me about my sets now?” He gave you an annoyed look.

“Dude, volleyball is pretty much your entire life,” you raised an eyebrow.

“Well…” he trailed off and looked away.

“Hmm?” You poked him, “What is it?”

“Volleyball and you. You’re more important than volleyball. But you’re leaving,” he frowned again, a few tears swelling up in his eyes.

“Well duh! I’m like, your only friend, King!!” You laughed.

He stayed silent for a bit before grabbing your hand, “No. I think of you as more than a friend. (Y/N)-  I…” he didn’t finish the sentence, but you knew exactly what he wanted to say.

“Tobio. I know. And I feel the same way,” you whispered.

“You do?” He glanced at you.

“Yeah. But like you said… I’m leaving. And you need to focus on volleyball. At the moment, we should just stay friends,”

“But-”

“Tobio listen to me. I’ll come back. I’ll come back from America, and when I do, I won’t leave your side, okay? I’ll never leave you again, if you can just wait for me to get back,” you squeezed his hand.

“You promise? That if I wait you won’t leave,” tears drip down Kageyama’s face, spilling into his hoodie.

“I promise Tobio. I promise.”

“(Y/N)! Hurry up!” Your mother called as she boarded the plane. You stayed behind, glancing at Tobio who was watching you sadly.
