Lips: It's going to be Christmas soon, Zoot.

Zoot: So what, Lips?

Ah, Christmas. One of the times of the year with big gatherings and lots of joy. The time that families are kind and happy with each other. A time of peace and tranquility.

Well, almost every family. The Electric Mayhem house was semi-decorated in tinsel and blinking lights. Not too much holiday joy since Zoot is Jewish and celebrates Hanukkah. Almost everyone knows this fact. Everyone except Lips, who hasn't spent enough time with the band to have this knowledge.

"It's snowing again?" Floyd groans, looking outside the window. Big flurries of snow fell from the sky and blanketed the ground in white. This was one of the odd years where Jack Frost decided to expel his cold powers a little too much.

"Be happy we don't need to be anywhere," Dr. Teeth adds in. It was a week before Christmas and everyone was pitching in to decorate the tree. Animal would hand someone an ornament and they would hang it on the tree. Janice and Floyd volunteered to put the last few ornaments up, giving the others a break. Zoot and Lips plop themselves down on the sofa, Zoot letting out a sigh.

"That was exhausting, man".

"You only hung up five of them".

"And it was exhausting. I dunno how you do it each year," Zoot mumbles the last part. Lips snuggles up to his side, resting the back of his head on Zoot's shoulder. Both stare at the tree and it's blinking lights and flashy decorations.

"Y'know, it's gonna be Christmas soon. I think I'll just get everyone gift cards this year," Lips says.

"So what?"

"What do you mean 'so what?' It's Christmas".

"He doesn't know, does he?" Yells Floyd from the other room. Zoot hums loudly in response and they could tell that their bassist is shaking his head.

"Tell me what?" Zoot pauses and takes a deep breath.

"Lips, uh, I'm Jewish. That means I celebrate Hanukkah. Our traditions are a bit different from Christmas, but I celebrate them with you guys because you're my family," Zoot explains. Lips lays his head on Zoot's lap and looks up at him with his arms crossed lazily on his chest. Giving in to the temptation, Zoot starts playing with his wild, shaggy hair.

"That's pretty cool".

"You're not mad I never told you?"

"Not really. I ain't gonna judge on who you believe in. I think my Ma told me about these... cousins or long lost relatives or something we got who are Jehovah's Witnesses. That's... that's what they're called, right? Pretty wild if... if ya ask me," Lips begins to trail off. Zoot smiles as he massages his partner's head. It always lulls the trumpet player to sleep no matter what.

"How did I fall for someone like you?" He asks himself softly.
