Alice
"Ooff. Do you really need to hit that hard. I'm still sore from training." Owen wines.
I roll my eyes, "Stop being a baby and man up. Your not the one who has to deal with the king's love and the media's lies." Just thinking of how I'm treated makes me mad. I mean sure others have it worse but still it's irritates me that the king thinks because he has power he has to us it to rule the world. I punch Owen in the ribs then do a roundhouse kick to his jaw.
"Alright, I'm done. I am not your personal punching bag. Plus, evening if I was my beautiful face should not take the hits. I mean this much handsomeness shouldn't be injured." I snort, I know not very ladylike but eh, who cares. Well, my family cares but not me.
"Yeah, cause all the ladies are falling at your feet."
"I don't need your sarcasm and they are."
"Your dreams don't count. Arm up, your leaving your side defenseless." I correct his technique.
"Look, if it makes you feel better I got a call from Phoebe and she and Alex will be here tonight."
"Why would your friends coming tonight make me feel better?" Especially since I have to read yet another tax paper.
"Your always talking about how you want to me my friends so nows the chance." He says, gleeful smile on his face.
"I do want to meet them just not on these conditions. I have to be the royal heir." Key eye roll. "I don't want to read those stupid papers. The taxes are high enough. You know what," I stand up and walk to my desk. Picking up the papers I throw a creepy smile over my shoulder before ripping the papers to shreds. I sit down and pull a pen out of the cup and start writing. I feel Owen looking over my shoulder, watching my hand dance across the paper.
Then he stops breathing, " No! Alice, do not. He will kill you. Do you not see your face not to mention your ribs? This," he points all over me, "will only be a warmup for what he will do to you if you read that."
"I know, but I'm done. Done with the way he treats me and his people. If I am to be queen I need to do what's right for my people not the king or my own greeds." With a look of determination I kick Owen out of my room to get ready for tonight. If the king wants me to read off the paper then I will read off the paper, just not his.
